Problem for Va Tech is that they have no running game, to top it off BC is tough against the run. Beamer coached teams have very little success when outrushed, and they will likely be outrushed on Thursday night. Doesn't help VaTech's cause when you compare the team's QB situation.

Let's remember too guys that just because they have not been able to run doesn't mean they won't have success tommorow night. S.Fla last week had not allowed alot of rushing and Ray Rice exploded so just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't tomorrow night. The spread tells me all I need to know for tomorrow.

I don't think people truly understand the impact of playing on Thursday night in Blacksburg, Virginia. It's the schedule death penalty. BC will have to play a perfect game to beat VT tomorrow night. They haven't played a team that's even remotely close to as good as what VT has to offer, either.

BC could surprise me, but nothing I've seen from them says that they're good enough to win on Thursday night in Blacksburg.

I've been there as an opposing fan. It's hell on earth if you're not a Hokie.

Agree 100%. IMO VT is a situational player's wet dream tomorrow night. Nationally televised game, at home, and they have a chance to knock off the #2 team in the country. I think BC is the better team, but I also think they're going to be walking into a buzzsaw in Blacksburg.

...let me ask this. We are all fairly astute at looking at the handicapping perspective part of the game, right? What about Joe Public bettor??? How often in the past 5 years has he heard Va Tech??? How many times has he heard BC??? Joe Public sees Va Tech only laying -3 vs. BC in Blacksburg???

Average Joe bettor couldn't name the BC head coach.... Nationaly televised game.... Va Tech at home.... I suppose that comparisons could be made to L'ville and UConn last week.... I guess we will see. :SIB

Difference between this and Louisville/UCONN last week is that the public sees Boston College as the #2 in the country with the Heisman Front-Runner against a Virginia Tech team that barely squeaked out a win over East Carolina and was embarrassed by LSU. The public is on Boston College not Virgina Tech.

Just my opinion, but I think Joe Public would be far more likely to overreact to the #2 team in the country GETTING points. I completely agree that VT is a well-known team for all bettors, public or not. Maybe even more so than BC. But you can't deny that BC is certainly in the public eye this year, especially lately, due to their success.

Louisville should have won last week, there's no denying that. However, and this is just my opinion again, but over the last couple of years I think home teams have tended to cover far more often than road teams in nationally televised weeknight games. Having said that, I don't have any hard stats to back that up, so I could be wrong...

In the places that I look, the % seems to be about 50-50....

...that's spells a slight public perception to Va Tech to me, but that's just my opinion. :SIB

I hadn't even looked to see what the percentages were. I was just trying to play the line guessing game (which can be quite a futile game at times). And I wasn't trying to insinuate that you were a "public" bettor at all. I know that's not the case.

GL on your plays...

I see about 56% on Boston College where I look not a big majority at all but how often is the public on an underdog??? Not very often at all! So I think they see Boston College at #2 in the country getting points and think that is obviously the play. Normally Virginia Tech at home laying a small number would mean overwhelming action on them but in this case they are not getting as much action. Even if it was 50/50 that should tell you that Boston College is garnering attention from the public because of their ranking.

What are you guys thinking about the Total... i think its aroudn 44

I'm leaning towards the under... seeing it as a defensive game.

But its so hard to play the under because it seems to me 80% of college games go over.

Glen, No offense taken.... I didn't take your post that way.

Covers, my opinion is that anywhere close to 50-50 would mean a lean to Va Tech because of past history.... BC getting over 40% is purely based on ranking. You may be right and as I said in other posts, there are very respectable cappers on Va Tech, so I wouldn't be shocked if I was wrong, but I'll stick with my BC ML bet.... GL this week. :SIB

Great thread guys

Great thread guys

Let see, VT owners of thursday night home football. BC unbeaten and trying desperately to savor that record. Like other unbeatens they know they can get beat. And now this is the perfect game for it to happen for VT will be only team with a legit shot at them. JoeP:mj16: over this game by recognizing BC this year. I think theres no confustion on why the line is. But I'm pray for more BC money with the line holding at 3. If Veg has no clue they will move the line. Which favors moreso the VT backers. VT is the play. As for the total. Vt has less running ability and BC strong against the run. Ground TOs can happen. How do you attack a team. Attack there weeker pts. Vt will pass more than off to the lack of running ability. Again more TOs. TOs+pts. A play of over (43.5) or no play.

Other than the 48-7 ass-whipping put on them by LSU, I would venture to say that BC is the best team that V. Tech has played this year.... Neither team has played a very difficult schedule thus far.... I like my chances with BC, even on the road in hostile territory.

If you're Aunt had balls she'd be you're Uncle. VT did play at night @ LSU- bottom line. I think BC beat UMASS that same Saturday- by 10pts. BC may win. It certainly wouldn't shock anyone. I think ithe VT QB issue is huge.. I like VT as a situational play. BC is a solid team, but I think it would be tough for any team to go into Blacksburg on Thur. night and come out w/a W.

Should be a great game. I took BC +3. To me, it is a no brainer. Every average sports fan I have talked to this week like Va Tech because it is in Blacksburg. I did too initially. Every avergae football fan does not like BC because they are number 2. The reason is because anyone that watches college football knows the rankings are BS this year. C'mon guys, LSU ranked behind BC?? No one buys that.

I heavily capped this game and their are a few things that stand out. Homefield is obviously huge, and Va Tech is sick on Thursday night, with a 15-2 or 13-2 overall record on Thurs night ESPN both losses to BC, call me superstitious, but I like alot that both losses are to BC. More importantly, Beamer ball is all about running the ball and creating turnovers, special teams tds. Va Tech cannot run the ball this year. Look at the box scores throughout the season. Ryan is not a likely candidate to turn the ball over. Special teams TDs are certainly a possibility but I will take my chances. To top it off VaTech doesn't really have a good QB and BC has one of the best. Beamer is 19-56 when being outrushed by opponent, BC is 64-17 when outrushing oppoenent.

Another thing some of you fail to realize that will become apparent after the game starts tonight....Va Tech is not good this year. Homefield can only do so much.

This quarterback stinks and benching him is the reason Vtech has now succeeded. Well he is back so i will keep my money in my pocket. To watch braindead after braindead decision and pray i win is not my cup of tea.
