Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
supposed Vegas hot shot told me many years ago that most of the corp. money involved in casinos would rather not even have sportsbook.

more hassle than they are truly worth when you consider the square footage they use.

don't know if it's true or not..

but I doubt that whales swim in the sportsbook.

Makes sense, slot machines don't whine about work conditions or need health benefits or lunch breaks.

On the course!
The fact of the matter remains: More schmoes bet favorites and overs when they bet.

The book directors interviewed this week admitted that they needed every dog to cover to have any shot at making money this weekend. Having all of them lose, could not have been a good sign.

Exactly right. I've been told this by Vegas pit bosses. And, add to it that most sports books don't accept players cards to reward you with play, unless you bet huge amounts. Why is that? Because your sports bets do not matter to them and they aren't gonna comp you for betting on sports.

But if you polled every single single sports bettor in America how many would be up for the entire season? I thought so. These "Vegas is getting killed" threads crack me up. They did not get killed on the bowls I assure you. In addition, Vegas isn't handling anywhere close to the majority of bets these days so the offshore guys are the ones to worry about. Thunder may be up 300% but most of the rest of us are not!

Actually, they don't comp you because there is no way to show what you have "in play". If you sit at a craps table and bet for 4 hours, they know what you have in play. If you bet $3,300 on the Saints on Sunday, you could just as easily have another $3,300 on their opponent across the street.

But that would make little sense to lose juice. What would you be gaining? You lose $300 and get a free room?

I was told be more than one pit manager in Vegas, they absolutely don't care much about sports betting because it isn't where they make money. Slots, Black Jack, craps, even horse racing, and you'll get points. Not betting games.

"Killed" is a relative term. Rest assured, the books didn't make out too well this weekend. Your average Joe who is on vacation, bets favorites. Every favorite won. The math is easy.

10 point teasers? Everyone won! Doesn't matter what combo you took out of these eight teams, you won!

They have it so dialed in now. They want you playing and betting on the things where they are going to make the most money. You can sit at a slot machine for an hour and get a ton more points than you can from betting $3k on a game.

I bet and won and lost around $6k on a weekend and was giving my card on every play. I literally got zero points for that weekend. It's BS.

Guess they're not hurting as bad as they whine about...

They are comping the idiot who blows his money on Craps betting thousands by the hour. If you are a careful bettor who spends more time in the sportsbook they could give 2 shits about you. I would rather pay for my hotel room and come home with most of my money than continue to "check in" an blow money on the tables.
