These might help

http://www.cheapovegas.com/index.php

Personally, for cheap sit down eats I love;
Ellis Island (The restaurant and the BBQ joint)
The Wild Wild West.

I only do VP and Craps so as far as gambling;
Craps; Casino Royal on the strip and the Fiesta Henderson.
Video poker; Fiesta Henderson and Suncoast in Summerlin

As for good, stiff, cheap drinks;
Las Vegas Club
Plaza

(Vegas is so dynamic that anything I say today might be wrong tomorrow)

Have a great time and......

Go to the MGM and to the front desk. Flirt with an attendant there and ask her for a booklet. Say you did not get one or lost yours when you checked in. Inside the booklet is a 1/2 off buffet coupon. $20 MGM buffet you will get $10 each and it works for up to 4 people. Also in the booklet is a free admission to Studio 54.

Hope you have fun in Vegas.

another question as well...the best way to get around would be a taxi, because when we get out of the airport, i was under the assumption it would be like $20 to take a taxi from the airport to the strip....

It depends on where you are staying. It's a lot cheaper from McCarran to say, MGM or Tropicana than it is to the Stardust or Rivieria, because they are further north on the strip. Going from one casino on the strip to another by Taxi will usually run from 5-9 bucks, depending on distance. Not bad if there are a few of you. But keep in mind there are trams and shuttles that connect certain hotels. Anywhere you want to go on the south end from Mandalay to NYNY you can get to by taking a tram, which is free. I know TI and the Mirage are connected by a train, and there are other casinos involved, too, but the names escape me at the moment.
