I have stayed at The Orleans my last two trips. It was very nice. I am also in my 40's now, and don't crave the "action" of the Strip like a younger person might.

If they have never been to Las Vegas, you might not want to set them up way off of the Strip like that. Otherwise, they are a wonderful casino with fine restaurants, and they even have bowling and movie theatres, if they don't have a big gambling budget.

She's not like her dad when it comes to "wagering".....:nono: Not knocking the bowling alley, but that will probably be best suited for them :mj07: Her Ex-boss suggested it as that's where he stays  and he commutes to the strip. Thanks

I suggest going to the Mirage and getting tickets for the show Love if you like the beatles. O is also very good at the Bellagio.

Here are some of my favorite restaurants there:

High priced: Michael Mina's at the Bellagio

Mid priced: Grand Lux Cafe at the Venetian

Low priced: The noodles joint right next to the Venetian sportsbook or some of the great hamburger joints in town such as in-n-out burger.

Thanks, good to know.....passed it on

Jake: Try to convince them to stay on the strip at one of the cheaper options (Tropicana, Excalibur, Imperial Palace). It is worth it if you've never been there, but if they choose the Orleans, they will be happy all the same. Not a bad place, just not a place I'd recommend for someone's first trip.

I just got back from 5 nights stay at Bally's. I'd stayed there years ago when it was MGM and thought it would put me in a good spot on the strip. It wasn't quite as I remembered it but it was ok. The room was less than $100 per night and right in the center of the action. While there I saw that The Barbary Coast has been renovated and renamed Bill's Casino and is touting 42" plasma tv's in their rooms. I'd probably consider staying there next time.

If they've never been to Vegas, I'd encourage them to stay on the Strip. I guess I'm getting old or maybe it's because I don't drink but I thought I was in Ft. Lauderdale at Spring Break! For the younger folks it would be Heaven.
