Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
I plan on putting all my Vegas experiences of note in this area.

I do not do pics, very technically challenged, and simply, its not that important to me at 66.

SKIP TO CHRISTMAS BOLD IF INCLINED, THE FOLLOWING IS ALL RANT.

Its been very trying getting our Vegas Patio Home in order this year.

Day 1 the Water Heater quit (in the 5 years I have been out here, I have gone thru 3 Rheem water heaters, 2 sets of elements, all under warranty) it took 4 days waiting on a recommended RELIABLE plumber.

Day 2 the Washing Machine quit (bought new 2011) replaced it with a 10 year old rebuilt guaranteed Neptune model for $140 delivered.

Day 3 Bedroom Ceiling fan quit, replaced with a used high dollar remote controlled ceiling fan from thrift store...$20....works wonderfully.

Day 4 Remote control for our automatic toilet quit (no warm seat and warm butt wash) on order from Chicago.

Day 6 everything near normal, Tire Pressure Warning on car, rush to Hispanic Tire shop we use. He pulls out a 3 inch thin piece of metal and we plug it, $10.

We are in a guarded gated community, have had no problems with anyone in 5 years...new neighbor (single old female biddy) has contacted the Board of Directors TWICE about our outside barking dog.

First time he barked 5 minutes at in and out repair people (imagine that) second time, my other neighbor was talking to Hispanic workers dog went to gate and barked (imagine that).
Dog is kept in at night, if he wants to potty, he tells us.

Instead of discussing it with us, she imediately escalates the situation.
The Board has NO sympathy or compassion for us whatsoever, black and white, "we have a complaint".
I'm tempted to visit her, but feel I would explode.

CHRISTMAS WISH FOR LAS VEGAS

I find it hard to believe that there is not a single non-smoking
casino in Vegas.
In this day of "health awareness" and less smokers, WHY NOT?
I think if an enlightened operator went all totally non-smoking they would
clean up. They would get most of my business. They could even have a glassed sealed area for smokes.
I genuinely feel for many of the casino employees that are forced to breath proven toxic fumes all day long.

I guess Vegas don't care, its all money anyhow.

Tunica has the Gold Strike which is 2 story, one smoke one not, that would even work here.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL

DM - I for one, find your's and 6/5's posts really cool. Keep it up and know that there are probably more that read and are interested than actually post. I know I don't post very often, but check very often. Take care and enjoy the holidays:toast:

Caesars Palace new food court, Lobster and Baltimore Crab cakes

Caesars Palace new food court, Lobster and Baltimore Crab cakes

Went to check out the forum shops, noticed a few 30-40% off signs and discounted closeout areas at some of the retailers, NEVER have seen that before.

I saw high end $100,000 natural pink diamonds at the Tiffany store, ( I once worked at a jewelry store ) as my wife was at the Gucci store looking lovingly at Gucci $2000 purses.

Nice thing about looking, it doesn't cost much.

If you are interested in art to expand your imagination horizon, check this out (http://vladimirkush.com/Editions/) he has a store in the forum, must see. One of my favs...route 66 http://vladimirkush.com/Editions/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=870:route-66

After wandering for a couple hours, we discovered the food court.
It is past the poker room, just past Ramseys offering.

This is not your traditional garbage food court with Subway, McDonalds,Sbarros, China Wok.

There are 6 complimenting eateries DiFara Pizza (only one outside Brooklyn) Earl of sandwich, Tiger Wok + ramen (Jap and Chinese Style) Smashburger, A Specialty Mexican fast taco eatery and Phillips Seafood.

We opted for Phillips Seafood- Lobster Rolls...

OMG for $14.99 you got a hot, toasted, buttered split roll absolutely STUFFED with BIG Lobster chunks, perfectly seasoned with a light mayonaise sauce and a huge portion of very tasty not-greasy cottage fries.

I relished every single bite...

They are well known for Baltimore crab cakes...Jack here you go http://www.phillipsseafood.com/locations-and-menus/las-vegas/menus

We plan on visiting this place every couple weeks for a fix. :00hour

Get the Cream Of Crab soup. They didn't have any when we were there in August. Not a big fan of Phillips crab cakes.

Tip for what it is worth

Tip for what it is worth

If you don't mess with rent cars, today I saw a sign at Gold Coast.
There is a shuttle that runs from Orleans to Gold Coast to Caesers , runs till midnite.:mj23:
Gold Coast is next to Rio and the Palms is across from Gold Coast.

Too many horror stories lately about people being told by the drivers to piss off if they don't have an Emerald card from Boyd.

Las Vegas
I know that Santa Fe has a Non-smoking 'area' that is off to the back near the Cinemas....I actually do notice a difference in air quality there, but they don't have any 9/6s back there so I rarely go there except to pick up my 'complimentary' serving dishes and cheap bottles of wine after getting my 300 points....

Not sure about Red Rock....

If you like Lobster, check out Lobster ME locations as well....lobster tacos were incredible...they are all over the place but I went to the one at the Venetian...pretty sure I did a review with pics but that was soooooo long ago

El Gordos...simply best street tacos in Vegas

El Gordos...simply best street tacos in Vegas

I reviewed them 2 years ago, heres an update.

They closed their location on the strip near Wynns...(figure hi rent got them)

Went there today (Charleston location) saw 2 strip cabs parked there. When you take a cab from the strip for $2.00 tacos, you KNOW its good stuff.

I had 4 tacos Al Pastor ( freshly carved off the 3-4 foot tall cooking spiral) on homemade tacos, cilantro, onions, creamed avocado, with house salsa and a Fanta Strawberry soda pop for about $10.00.

On the menu is Tacos Lengua, Tripa, Cabera, Asada, Adbada, Aztecka, Asada Mulitas (Steak+cheese Quesadilla), SO MUCH MORE.

If you like the real deal Tijuana street food, this is it.

Gets real busy around noon hour....we got there 11:15 waited 15 minutes in line.

Wacky sightings

Wacky sightings

I'm sure every town has its quirks....don't see too many in my small town Oklahoma like I have seen here...

Thought I would share a few.

Lots of people at street corners here in Vegas walk among cars waiting for the long light changes begging for money.
My heart goes out to them, but come on, thats stupid and exceedingly dangerous.

Yesterday, Friday at Rainbow and Desert Inn about 1pm a fellow obviously badly scarred from a fire, was shirtless with both arms in the air begging holding a sign proclaiming "Fire Damaged".
IMHO he should be in a mental ward, not wandering in and out of busy traffic.

Yesterday, on the side of busy 95 south and Valley view, the police had a person walking a straight line, just outside of heavy 9am bumper to bumper heavy traffic....what are they thinking?

Today 11 am near a decatur and alta pawn shop, a fella was wheeling
a huge projection TV (circa 1995) on the sidewalk....he got pissed and
stopped and started kicking the TV in, breaking the screen and walked off, leaving it.:0002

This early morning while walking my dog, I saw 2 patrol cars pull up to an apartment across the way. Decided to watch the show from a distance, 4 of Vegas Finest took down a 5'4" middle aged woman, cuffed her and away she went...domestic violence I was told.

Vegas is an interesting town.....away from the cash cow known as the strip...

Aria Buffet revisited..

Aria Buffet revisited..

Aria is just North of Ny Ny, an MGM property.

Monday lunch buffet was 24.99.

The NFR rodeo is in town, lots of real cowboys and cowgals milling around town.

Several were admiring the "beefy" meat display at Aria buffet, one cowboy with hat and boots commented "thats a mighty fine meat spread".

nearly killed myself on braised beef short ribs....3 helpings....
good grief these were fabulous, absolutely melted in your mouth....

buffet had crab legs, tons of meat offerings, chinese area, italian, Mexican, all VERY well prepared and a good variety of different stuff,
found awesome crab tacos near the fish station.

Aria buffet does not get much press, but it never fails to impress, and they have Pineapple Juice, hard to find at Vegas buffets, and a favorite of mine.

Interesting place to people watch, lots of good looking young well dressed women strutting their stuff...the Asian crowd devouring mountains of crab legs. Lots of very young people with "Selfie Sticks" impressing someone back home.
Lots of foreigners taking pix of rotating Sorbet Bar...guess they don't have them back home.

If you get the chance, give it a try....nice seats by garden area.

There is a 1pm poker tourney....it was packed full, nice poker room.

HIT THE ROYAL...

HIT THE ROYAL...

Finally after a good 5+ years since the last one....forgot what a hand pay was like.

Was at my favorite Vid Poker casino, "The California" downtown.

Was doing no good on the old clunkers, (hand feed quarters) machines,
wandered to the progressive area, had access to all of a dozen machines, all the drunks were cheering for Brady in the sports bar area. Put twenty in one, nada, twenty in next one, nada.

Third machine attempted put twenty in (without players card, just because)

Payout was 1398.45, machine reset to 1000.00... 3rd hand of the twenty dollar bill drew to a Jack, Queen, Ace diamonds....BINGO king, ten.

I played another hundred for grins,NADA.
STRANGELY, never hit a SINGLE four of a kind, THE WHOLE EVENING, YET HIT THE ROYAL.

Interesting ride home dodging all the wind blown palm husks scattered all over the highways.

Gonna take the wife to Bellagio tomorrow for celebration buffet...:00hour
