For some reason, my wife agreed to go to Vegas for our first anniversary. Last time we were there we ate at Mesa, it was good. I would like to take her somewhere nice for the special occasion. Any recommendations?

What kind of food/cuisine?
Does it need to be on the strip, or can it be anywhere?
What price range?

She is a steak eater. My doctor says I need to eat chicken and fish. As far as the cuisine, American or French. We are staying on the strip, Linq and Cromwell, using the comps. So on the strip is nice and convenient. Price range $50-$75 an entree.
We are in the restaurant business in Alabama, but can not tell you anything about the places in Vegas.
Thanks for your help.

There is a Ruth's Chris in HarrAhs that is good, but probably something you have had before. TJs in the Westgate (old LV Hilton) is very good. Bazaar steak at the SLS is nice too. 4 queens also has a nice steakhouse. I have no clue about French food other than they have a French restaraunt in the connecting area between Ballys and Paris.

Have a great time. If Dead Money or dr feelgood see this, they will know other places.

SixFive already mentioned it, but I would recommend Hugos Cellar inside of four queens. Call in advance for reservations on your specific date as it's hard to get into:

The thing that's good about Hugo's Cellar is they have great food and not just steak. They are known for having great steak but have really good seafood and other food as well along with a great atmosphere.

Binions Steakhouse is a nice Steak house as well with great views. The wait staff was very nice and the food was excellent the last time I was there. I had the Steak Diane and it was one of the best steaks I ever had.

It's worth mentioning that these are both downtown and beat most of the strip places in price and quality.

My favorite steak house in Vegas is Herbs and Rye....it is off Strip but not far....It is basically modeled after a 1920's speakeasy with fabulous drinks (they crush the ice by hammer in a towel) and the food (especially the ribeye and calamari) is the best for what I look for....if you get there between 5-8pm, it is Happy hour and all the steaks are half price so the ribeye is about 30 bucks and you get a side with it unlike most of the high end joints which make you pay 8 bucks for a bowl of mashed potatoes....I have eaten there several times and it is my go to place for birthday and anniversary celebrations....

I have been to STK inside the Cosmo and I did think it was very good, but I am an old fart now and the music thumping while I ate hurt the conversations and my head....but the food was good, so if you are younger and enjoy that stuff, I would recommend it for a 'Strip" steakhouse...

I also thoroughly enjoy Holsteins in the Cosmo for Burgers at a decent price...it's upscale but with decent pricing...

If you do go Downtown, just go to Pizza Rock.....place is freaking spectacular.....it's pizza...and beer....and just plain good!!!

Thank you all for the information. I told my wife that y'all would come through. I just wish I was a better handicapper to help everyone else out as well, or at least had a little more time on my hands to watch the lines and how they move. I had a friend introduce me to this forum about 10 years ago and it has not let me down.
I will let you know where we end up and how it was for anyone else heading out there. If anyone is in town would love to hit the tables and grab a beer.

Thanks for all the information again.

Great Dinner at Hugo's for the first Anniversary. They made it special. The food was great. I also am a fan of Freemont. The dealers are so much nicer there. We stayed and played craps. My wife taught me how to play. I learned when she has the dice bet the don't pass line, on the second roll. She comes out no problem. The second roll is 7. Tonight we are going to eat sushi at 65's place he mentioned in his everything vegas thread. Thanks again to everyone.

I also want to let you know that I lost it on the way to 4 queens. We were walking down Freemont and looking at everything. There was a blind guy there and people were describing it to him. I thanked my lucky stars then and there. It brought me back down a level and I need that sometimes.
