Somehow I have managed to get to this stage of my life and still never been to Vegas. One thing or another has always prevented me from going, but I?m looking at possibly going the end of April, unless it?s too late to get a decent price.

Looking for hotel recommendations, not looking for the most expensive place, but don?t want a dump either. My wife doesn?t gamble so I want a hotel where she can keep busy or whatever (pool)... Any other info or help would be appreciated. Thanks! :0008

Not sure on the price but The Mirage is middle tier pricing, very nice for first timers, great location, and your wife will love their pool.

Advertised prices are deceiving because they will hit you with resort fees at just about all the hotels and it's about $50 extra per night not included in advertised prices.

2nd the mirage for a first time visitor. You can walk to many of the attractions on the strip easily from the mirage. Nice rooms and some quality restaurants on site so if you don?t want to go away from the resort you don?t need to.
Pool is cool, too. Lots of very nice looking ladies so be careful? don?t need the wife catching you checking out the talent :mj07:
I?ve Always enjoyed the mirage?s sportsbook. Huge TVs to watch the action and in late April you?ve got early season baseball and nhl and nba playoff action to bet on.

Look at the Golden Nugget downtown. Nice pool with a built in aquarium (sharks, rays, etc other fish) swimming all around you. Downtown is a lot more fun I think especially if u don?t gamble, and if u do gamble, the gambling is better.

Not to mention Downtown Vegas is cheaper then the Strip and you get to see all those weird humans that hang around there at night:tongue

The one thing I always tell 1st time visitors to Las Vegas is that you really don't have to gamble huge amounts of money to get comps. With that said it is WAY easier to get comps off the strip.

If you are making your very first trip to Vegas, walk up to the Floor Supervisor (or someone close to that job title) and say "Hey I am staying here with my wife, this is our first time to Vegas". Just make a personal connection with that person (try to get their business card) and ask about comps. Then once a day try to keep contact with that person, give him or her a wave if you have to, just try to keep contact. Then before you leave ask what comps you can get, most of the time you'll get a discount on your room (or other stuff). Now yes of course you'll have to gamble there, but you don't have to bet 2000 bucks a hand at Blackjack for 6 hours to get it. Many think you need to be a "high roller" to get comps, you do not.

Hotels/Casinos want to "reel in" 1st time visitors because you are "fresh meat", if you let them know you are there for the 1st time you might get some extra comps. But again as I mentioned above it is much easier to get comps off the Vegas Strip then on it.

At the very least one should be able to get a Free Buffet, I mean free food is always good right:00hour

No weird humans hang out on the strip??

Well not as many as downtown. But as far as annoying humans, the Strip wins that award. Does it get any more annoying then the "Hooker Card" humans?

Was there for a week last month (SB) and didn't come across any of the 'hooker' cards this trip. Hundreds and hundreds in previous trips of the panhandlers.

Maybe things are improving? Did have a few 20k step days so not for lack of movement.

As for Blitz. Id stay on the Strip. Check out the Linq. Its new, clean, good gambling and very centrally located.

1000% VDARA! It's 100% smoke free hotel with great rooms and pool. Steps to the ARIA (best casino/sportsbook/food in Vegas). The buildings are connected by a walkway. VDARA is perfect for the non-gambler/non-smoker. :0008

Almost stayed there last trip but ended up downtown at MSS instead due to my friend getting comped rooms.
Like the idea of a smoke free/casino free hotel to escape to after long days of gambling.

If you are a serious sports gambler or just a sports gambler in general, you have to at least make a stop at the Westgate hotel and casino just off the strip. It is by far the best sportsbook in Vegas. All I can say is, it's worth going to, you'll thank me later. 50 foot high screens across a football field that are crystal clear with high back cushioned chairs to watch the games. The NBA playoffs will be rolling at the end of April. The rooms, if you decide to stay there, aren't that bad either. They've been renovated.

Kickserve... I have the full set of Topps 1959 baseball card set ,1975 Topps with George Brett's rookie card and the 1988 Donruss set and Mickey Mantles 1952 rookie card... I like to go up in my attic and go through all my baseball cards....but my favorites are the 2014 and 2015 Vegas cards they give you on the strip... think it was Lola's rookie card in 2013 and Candy's 2014...think Candy was a shortstop but forgot what position Lola played...:mj07:

Wouldn't go anywhere downtown you need to be on strip first time Vegas.Mirage is decent spot and price okay. The Aria is in Ideal spot right next to park mgm where t mobile center is which has nice shows and other pubs and lot of action also shops and food are right across walkway by planet Hollywood Vdara is nice also. id spend a few bucks more on Aria but mirage would be fine also.

Looking at June 18th to 24th now.

Is it too hot at that time?

Any other positives or negatives with going at that time?

Would like to see the Grand Canyon any suggestions for this?

Should I rent a car?

Thanks :0008
