I would hope there is a final decision inbetween the SECC and NCG. That would give, if ruled ineligible, time for Auburn and Cam to appeal in time for the NC.

Hearing on local radio shows down here that "serious sources claiming it will be over by the weekend" but honestly I've lost count of how many times I've heard that...

just gonna keep on keepin on until then :0corn

If 10% of that is true and Auburn continues to play Newton then their last round of probation will look like a slap on the wrist. I'd imagine the death penalty would be on the table for discussion.

I wouldn't count on being in the NC game just yet... Bama is very capable of beating Auburn and SCar was beating them for 3/4's of the game on the road... I know they want payback... It won't be easy that's for sure

MONTGOMERY An attorney for indicted casino owner Milton McGregor says he will plead innocent at his arraignment Friday.

mcgregor and 10 others are scheduled for arraignment Friday morning in federal court in Montgomery on charges accusing them of buying and selling votes on pro-gambling legislation.

The bigger picture here is that the Feds have been investigating Milton McGregor (A major Auburn Booster and the owner of VictoryLand, which is located just outside of Montgomery) for quite some time. The Feds are investigating efforts to pass gambling legislation in Alabama and money laundering schemes involving McGregor and other prominent Alabama politicians and Auburn boosters.

The Feds have tape from wire taps made on McGregor and other prominent Auburn boosters from their investigation. The Newton's were just shopping their talent's to the wrong people at the wrong time and thus there is hard evidence available that incriminates everyone involved. it's only a matter of time that all of this information becomes public.

FBI found out about Cam before the NCAA did while wiretapping Milton McGregor and others related to the casino/bingo indictments. They uncovered conversations with McGregor, Auburn and Cam's uncle in michigan. mcgregor paid $250k to the uncle through a pac and other hidden entities and the uncle funneled the money to cecil.

the fbi gave this information to the ncaa sometime after the indictments were handed down. they had to sit on the information for 6 months until the grand jury indicted the men and women in the gambling deal. All of the wiretap information was sealed and that is why the delay in investigating. The NCAA had to go to Miss St to see if Cecil had solicited money from them as well. That is why Miss St is involved. They are basically connecting all of the dots. Miss St may be cleared because they told Cecil no. He then went to Auburn. The offer was on the table from McGregor but Cam wanted to play at Miss St and not Auburn. When Miss St declined to pay him, he went to where the money was... hence the comment, "The money was too much." The FBI met with the Miss St coaches, John Bond and Bill Bell today to get their official statements"

Seems plausible to me

seems plausible. also seems deniable unless a money trail is found. all of this is still "alleged" but it stinks... but if there are wire-tapped tapes then they need to go ahead and wrap this thing up real quick and let it be over with. The longer it goes on without that happening just makes these sources seem less legitimate IMO. It is the general consensus of everyone that if there was an allegation that held water in the NCAA's eyes they wouldn't hesitate to rules cam ineligible.

going on what 3 weeks of "sources" throwing out allegations left and right. NCAA needs to nut up and make a ruling or come out and say this is all trash.

one way or the other it is getting very very old...

You do realize prosecutors aren't going to release information about their case until discovery. They don't care about the NCAA/SEC investigation or Auburn's football schedule.

Maybe you should tell that to all the people claiming to have "sources" that know for a FACT the FBI has wiretaps with conversations discussing McGregor giving Cecil and "his dirty uncle" money.

hmmm.

In other news, Mark Winne - reporter from Atlanta who got Cecil's confession to soliciting money - is having an interview with Cecil's attorney today. I'm sure everyone in the country outside of Lee County will call anything he says bullshit - and are the same people proclaiming that all the allegations Bell's attorney made are gospel

T, all we're doing here is posting what we see and here.

Just like you posted that Cecil had called the FBI to help.

It's not all true but it gives us something to talk about.

i know believe I hope i don't come across as upset just because I'm an AUB. At this point I'm just trying to poke fun at people for having double-standards as to what is being reported and how truthful it is.

People's responses to articles that get posted on here was more what I was picking on. Whenever a new article comes out that is full of rumors and hearsay everyone gets real excited "Auburn's gonna get it"

off topic - how is tubby doing with recruiting this year? it seemed like he started getting very lazy towards the end of his tenure at Auburn. settling for a bunch of 2&3*s and preaching we could "coach them up"... until we got hosed 36-0 and went 5-7

The class started off very good and if we can hang on to all of the guys I'll be very happy. Leach never cared about recruiting. He took the guys that wanted to come to Tech and worked with them. It looks like DC Willis is a very good recruiter. Tubs also does it different than we're use to, he's just getting the best guys he can(usually RBs in high school) and I guess he'll move them once they get here.

Other things he does a lot different is over recruits the class with guys that he knows will end up in juco but then hopes to get them after their soph year, that's something we're not use to.

The one big thing that he did was hire the old head coach from Hargrave academy(I think this is the name). If anyone knows about this place then you'll know the talent that comes out of there is as good as it gets. I guess we'll have a direct pipeline to the players there now.

That sounds about right with his recruiting. The sign-and-place strategy really used to piss me off. Plenty of guys that were high rated out of HS never amounted to shit once they got to soph year and some went to other schools for different reasons. Enrique davis, raven gray, eltoro freeman just off the top of my head.

they do help the draft class ranking

I don't know what Auburn per se is guilty of, but the evidence is obviously there that Cam's dad at a minimum asked MSU for money. If so, that's all that is required to make Cam ineligible to play for anyone. Period. Whether he got paid, Cam knew, Auburn did anything, etc is wholly irrelevant to the issue of his eligibility and Auburn's eventual forfeiture of it's wins.

The rest simply factors into if and how hard Auburn gets slapped.
