5 fearless predictions for the Pac 10
1. There won't be a USC slip in the Pac 10 this year. Put the Trojans in the Big XII, SEC or ACC and there's a loss; fortunately they're in the Pac 10. Road games at Oregon State and Washington State will be battles, but USC is too good and too complete to lose to those flawed teams. In fact, outside of those two games, the Trojans will be 21+ points better than everyone else.--I think everyone thinks this as a fact :142lmao:
2. Oregon State will have the best defense in the league ... again. With Steven Jackson, Derek Anderson and the Beaver offense getting all the notoriety, is was easy to miss how good the defense was. Oregon State led the Pac 10 in total defense and was seventh in the nation. Seven starters return including DE Bill Swancutt, CB Brandon Browner and FS Mitch Meeuwesen.
3. Arizona State will rebound. The Sun Devils were everyone's darling last year before they fell flat on their faces. The team is more experienced and QB Andrew Walter is bigger and better than ever.
4. California will be this year's Arizona State. Check that, Cal won't be bad at all, but this isn't going to be the superstar top 15 team everyone is predicting it to be. The Bears were great when they got to sneak up on everyone, but now they'll be the hunted. Four road games in the first five will make for a tough start.
5. USC's linebacking corps will be more heralded, but UCLA's might end up being the best in L.A. Spencer Havner and Justin London are every bit as good as Matt Grootegoed and Lofa Tatupu. However, the Bruin twosome won't be playing for a team in the national title hunt.

You thought this was "very well said College football news?"

I do agree that USC schedule this year is not very difficult. If you look at how USC matches up against other teams in other conferences, I think only 1 team in the Big 12 poses a serious threat to USC and that is OU. 1 team in the SEC pose a serious threat to USC and that is UGA. 2 teams in the ACC that pose a serious threat to USC and that is Miami and FSU. No teams in the Pac 10 pose a serious threat to USC. Remember, the only way you have a chance at beating USC is having solid defense and solid passing attack + speed. I think all these teams fill that requirement + they are all loaded with talent.

I think this guy is clueless when talking about OSU having the best defense in the Pac 10. If you just look at stats you might be right. USC in almost every game last year played their 2nd and 3rd stringers for almost an entire quarter. USC offense also scored many times with less than 3min. drives. Tell this guy to watch the USC ROSE BOWL and how they shut out MIchigan's offense midway throught the 3rd quarter. Many people felt Michigan had a top 5 Offense in the country and were one of the hottest teams in the country. That same USC defense that day will be a lot better this season! USC IMO will have the #1 defense in the Pac 10, but maybe not stat wise. I do wish USC could switch DB's with Oregon St. OSU has awesome DB's.

I agree with his ASU prediction, however he does not mention how ASU has NOBODY on the DL. Their DL is very weak. IMO games are won/lost in the trenches. Most important unit on defense is the DL.

His CAL predictiion is absurd even if it does happen. Why? CAL returns a top 5 QB in the country ROGERS and CAL has one of the TOP OFFENSIVE MINDED head coaches in the country. CAL also returns most of their team from last year!!!! Especially on defense where CAL was weak. As for Cal not sneaking up on anybody? What commment was that? Nobody in the Pac 10 sneaks up on anybody. There are no gimmies in the Pac 10 (except maybe Arizona last year). Upsets happen every weekend in the Pac 10. What magazines have CAL predicted in top 15?

UCLA's LB's are not better than USC's. I thought UCLA LB's were better last year than USC's but not this year. Groots (injured most of year) is head and shoulders above anyone they got. Plus USC has 6 very talented LB's competing for the 3 starting jobs. That means USC has depth which you need because LB is a position where injuries happen.

Just my 2 cents, this guy could be right but I do not see any justifcation behind most of his predictions.

I have to agree with Scott4USC on CFN"s predictions #2-#5.

CFN is the best website on college football but some of their writers are less than insightful. At times, I think they try too hard to have a contrary point of view. Editing is also shoddy.
