5 fearless predictions for the Pac 10
1. There won't be a USC slip in the Pac 10 this year. Put the Trojans in the Big XII, SEC or ACC and there's a loss; fortunately they're in the Pac 10. Road games at Oregon State and Washington State will be battles, but USC is too good and too complete to lose to those flawed teams. In fact, outside of those two games, the Trojans will be 21+ points better than everyone else.--I think everyone thinks this as a fact :142lmao:
2. Oregon State will have the best defense in the league ... again. With Steven Jackson, Derek Anderson and the Beaver offense getting all the notoriety, is was easy to miss how good the defense was. Oregon State led the Pac 10 in total defense and was seventh in the nation. Seven starters return including DE Bill Swancutt, CB Brandon Browner and FS Mitch Meeuwesen.
3. Arizona State will rebound. The Sun Devils were everyone's darling last year before they fell flat on their faces. The team is more experienced and QB Andrew Walter is bigger and better than ever.
4. California will be this year's Arizona State. Check that, Cal won't be bad at all, but this isn't going to be the superstar top 15 team everyone is predicting it to be. The Bears were great when they got to sneak up on everyone, but now they'll be the hunted. Four road games in the first five will make for a tough start.
5. USC's linebacking corps will be more heralded, but UCLA's might end up being the best in L.A. Spencer Havner and Justin London are every bit as good as Matt Grootegoed and Lofa Tatupu. However, the Bruin twosome won't be playing for a team in the national title hunt.
