Where it is real F ing COLD
Going to a draft party so I won't be on-line long today but would like to hear input or thoughts before and after draft.

I think the VIKES #1 priority should be right tackle. Cook sucks and the replacements are marginal at best. They could maybe trade down and still obtain a solid tackle and acquire more picks.

#2 Priority is WR. I guess they love Percy Harvin but this guy is a head case and he just got busted for the GONCHA. I wiish the Vikes would jump into the Boldin riing. I hear that he can be otained for a 2 and a 4. i would do that in a minute, trade down and get another pick. Get the RT and WR needed.

#3 Priority is depth on Defense, mainly at cornerback and middle linebacker. EJ Henderson is a stud, but when he was injured the lack of depth was easily recognized. Winfield is good but getting old. Need to start grooming someone. Maybe McCaulley will improve this year.

I just realized that I will probably be the only one posting in this thread because not too many Viking fans around and the ones on this site are probably outside right now because we just got rid of the snow:142smilie

harvin has said that he would welcome the team that drafts him to test him often for drugs...don't think that the union would allow that but it is a good sign imo....mike mayock, the draft expert for the nfl network & who i think is very astute has said that harvin is a top 10 in talent....harvin can be a beast with his speed playing indoors.....

with a new qb, childress has to win now...think it may be worth it for the vikes to take harvin...

Well I was busy at a draft party and got good and smucked... Think I hit this one on the head with the Vikes draft..

Round 1 Percy Harvin WR Florida
Round 2 Phil Loadholt T Oklahoma
Round 3 Asher Allen CB Georgia
Round 5 Jasper Brinkley ILB South Carolina
Round 7 Jamarca Sanford S Mississippi

Some are comparing Harvin to Reggie Bush and I think that is a bit of a reach. He has blazing speed and good ball skills yadda dadda. He is small at 5'11 and I wonder if he will be able to get into space to show off that speed. I am concerned by the fact that he may have a problem with weed and I understand that he might not be the sharpest kid either. Did poorly on the wonderlick.

Phil Loadhold is a load at 6'8 330 lbs. Played left tackle in college and will move to right tackle for the Vikes. I guess he is a punishing run blocker and that would be great to open up holes for AP. I worry about his size and his quickness to cut an edge pass rusher but well worth the risk of a #2 pick. Hopefully he can start right away

The 3 defensive picks will help give depth as none will be a starter hopefully they turn into good special team coverage guys becasue the Vikes special teams sucks.. Asher the DB may be able to see some action on passing downs.

Minnesota definitely improved their team as long as Percy stays away from the wacky weed, good players later also, Like you said Loadholt is a beast and should open holes for AP.

good luck this year...

Thank you.. I don't know too much about these players other than they are going to freeze their asses off up here in the winter. At least they play in a dome. The only sports hope that I ever have is that the VIKES win the SHOW before I die. LOL. I would give up both Twins titles, the WILD and the WOLVES for just one

I hear you football is my passion, the rest of the sports just fill time until football comes back each year. I do like the college basketball tournament but college football and pro football are the only sports that count for me

I have been to a few viking fan websites and I must admit that most of us Viking fans are real clueless. They are either overly optimistic or overly pessimisitic.

Percy Harvin- Some wanted the Vikes to pick Oher the tackle from Mississippi. One fan stated that he was ready to "get sick" because the Vikes took Harvin and another said Harvin would be like Randy Moss. Well for one Harvin is a midget compared to Moss and not to many WRs come out of the draft and put up big numbers right away. I think if he catches 40 - 50 balls for 700 yards would be a nice and reasonable expectation. I do not know if the Vikes have special teams planned for him but it sounds like he could be a hell of a returner. My thoughts on Harvin is that he is more likely to BUST than be a superstar but many of the so called experts rave about this guy. I just do not like his size. On the other hand I do not mind the Vikings taking a chance on him with the 22nd pick and then coming back for the tackle in the 2nd round. It sounds like they got better value that way. If they take Oher in the first round, what kind of WR would they have been able to get in the 2nd round? Not even close to Harvin's potential. I read up more on the corner Asher.. Some have projected him to see considerable playing time this year. Now I don't know how anyone can come to that conclusion. The Vikes have starters in Winfield and Griffin and Nickels in Sapp and McCaulley. Although this is McCaulley's make it or break it year. The leash is short for him and drafting Asher solidifies that thought. Brinkley the ILB from S. Carolina was a projected 3rd rounder and slid to the Vikes according to some. He was out almost the entire 2007 season with a leg injury. The Vikes clearly needed some LB depth and I will look for them to sign a veteran LB at some point later in the pre - season or before the start of the regular season.
