How in the hell are the Vikes not on the phone trying to get Vincent Jackson from SD?

Favre has to be saying you brought me back to win a Super Bowl and the WR talent is nowhere near SB quality without Rice.

Favre says it is a work in progress. Uhhh, no time for that since Favre is done after this year.
Vikes are in win it now mode and that means do whatever it takes to get a stud WR on the market.
The rest of the team is SB quality.

The Vikes are going to be 2-2 in week 5 when Jackson would be available and look at the Vikes schedule weeks 5-7 : Dallas, @GB, @New England.

They might lose all 3 without a playmaker WR.

Vincent Jackson's suspension could drop to four games

Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan would not rule out pursuing San Diego receiver Vincent Jackson on Thursday but noted that "we don't talk about people as well, for obvious reasons."

The NFL ruled earlier Thursday that Jackson's six-game suspension would be only four games if the Chargers manage to trade him. Jackson has been locked in a contract dispute with the Chargers, and if they trade him, he could be available in Week 5.

Shanahan offered few hints as to his intentions. "We'll always be trying to upgrade our football team, if that presented itself. We have people evaluating different people on teams all the time," Shanahan said. "You never know when a trade does work out or when you can get somebody to help your football team. But that's part of the process."

Reports have indicated that the Redskins have an interest in Jackson.
And the preseason games and first regular-season game would seem to indicate that they still have the need. Santana Moss was the only receiver to notch more than one catch last week against the Cowboys. The team's other starter, 38-year-old Joey Galloway, was targeted just once and didn't have a reception in his Redskins' debut.

Shanahan said the fact that Jackson would not be available immediately will surely weigh on some team's decision.

"Obviously, you'd want a guy who could come in and help you right away over a guy who'd be suspended for four games," he said. "I'm sure that people who do make up their mind obviously will weight the strengths and the weaknesses and make the decisions based on what's best for their organization."

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports a settlement has been reached where disgruntled WR Vincent Jackson is eligible to play in week #5 if he's traded. NFL.com adds if Jackson is not traded by Sept 22nd, he will serve the remainder of his three-game suspension and be placed on the roster exempt list regardless of a future trade.

Where it is real F ing COLD
The buzz here is that the Vikes are going to get Jackson.. There was no need to get overly excited to obtain him due to his suspension. He can't even be at the training complex. All he can do is read the playbook.. The Vikes pretty much have until today or like 3 pm tuesday to strike a deal or Jackson gets suspended 6 games..

So the earliest he can play is week 6 when the Vikes play the Cowboys.. Why should the Vikes be hasty?

1. We really do not know what the Chargers are asking for. A 2 and 3 sound a bit high..

2. The guy wants an expensive rich contract, I don't think the Vikes are willing to go above and beyond for a guy who if gets in trouble again is suspended a year..

I can tell you this while driving last night I was listening to "Vikings Live" on the KFAN (Minneapolis) and play by play announce Paul Allen asked Chile about the VIkings involvement to obtain Jackson and Chile said that Jackson was property of the San Diego Chargers and he could not discuss it. Paul Allen said that he would help pay the fine and Chile told him that he didn't have enough money in his wallet or something like that.

So I would think that the Vikes must be showing a ton of interest or Chile would of said so or he would of lied like he usually does.. Just saying..

It would be nice to have Rice and Jackson as 1 and 2 with Harvin in the slot. Could go 4 wide with Camarillo.. Maybe they could trade Berrian for some Beans..

Are you saying that the Vikings are going to for sure beat Miami and I am assuming you have them losing to the Jets.. I think they win the next 2 with Miami and Detroit at home but the Jets are 50/50.. Please people, don't over react to last week's game..
