My land line phone bill is 63.00 a month including caller id and voice mail which costs about 14.00 a month extra. Trying to figure out where the VOIP solution from like http://vonage.com/
for 15.00 a month is worth it or not.

I ran a comparision and figured I could save about 600 dollars a year if I used VOIP.

There are other companies out there but just curious. It can do everything that a regular phone can do. Most business that I have worked at use VOIP and you can't tell a difference at all.

It is either that or drop the land line and just stick to Cingular where we have no roaming in the US and unlimited mobile to mobile to another Cingular user no matter where at?

Here are the rate plans:

Anyone tried this? I read quite a bit over at the Replay TV Section at AVS forums http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?threadid=374713

It can work really well but it all depends what your real end charges will be. Reliability will be as reliable as your DSL (I assume you have a DSL, not cable) With cable you might have to watch for upload thresholds, some permit major downloads but throttle back or surcharge for high uploads and VoIP does eat some bandwidth.

I am thinking I will probably go ahead and try this here in the next month or two. I have a router that can do QOS to make sure the quality is good.

Right now they are giving you your 2nd month free so not much of a risk.

If not then I will just use my cell only
