VRO Files from Panasonic Video Recorder

Does anyone know how to convert VRO files to WMV files to be edited with Windows Movie Maker? Or any strategy to handle VRO files for video editing?

I have tried changing the extension, but of course that would be too simple and does not work. I am too cheap to purchase a separate software program since Windows XP and Windows 7 come with Windows Movie Maker already.

Downloaded the free stuff already... Unfortunately, the free, trial softwares don't fully convert the files. They just want you to see that they can convert files for editing. Only paid subscribers have access to full conversions.
