one of the worst beats ever was about 3 years with the same pitcher. gas can wagner. houston had a 6 or 7 run lead i believe in pittsburgh heading to the bottom of the 9th. gas can gives up a walk off grand slam for the loss. that is one of the many worst beats ever. any beat is a bad beat if u have a 3+ run lead heading to the 9th. and i will say for my sake these have not evened out not even close. i am usually on the wrong end of these beats. but thats gambling.

bingo. its scary how i remember that game vividly. wade miller started. pitched a gem. i believe it was a 7 run lead heading into the 9th.

the scariest part?

the first two pirates were retired in the inning.

the ENTIRE rally started with 2 outs and NOBODY ON.

im not sure if theres a beat that can top that in recent years. maybe the indians comeback against the mariners on sunday night baseball 4 or 5 years ago. but that was a prolonged, 3-inning rally.

that beat in pittsburgh was just sick.

wow. id love to be in your shoes if this would qualify as your worst beat ever. :scared and i say that seriously because i know you are a vet thats been doing this for awhile. but these types of beats are fairly routine in mlb, as sad as it sounds.

I honestly don't remember ever losing a game up by 4 in the 9th with a team who has a supposed 'closer'. That was a complete meltdown but what do you do. You are right Gman, these are fairly common in baseball so I shouldn't be so shocked!

Lucky for me I had Over 8. I figured the game was lost, but in the ninth started watching. You could tell it was choke city after a couple of batters. I think Wagner should have been pulled earlier.

As my first post, I want to say that I enjoy reading everyone's posts. There's some good advice here.

here's one

here's one

Steelers have the lead late in the game and I have the Steelers +7 against Jacksonville.

Not only do they blow the lead but the Steelers are down by 6 with 0:07 seconds left and are getting a meaningless pooch kickoff. He goes down and I win by 1 right?

No the dumb asses start latteralling the ball like 20 times and the last lateral by Mark Bruener ends up in the endzone for a safety.

Steelers lose by 8 and I piss my pants.

It was Maryland Duke. I had the over and it was tied with like 1 second left. OT meant I would surely win b/c I needed like 10 points.

Maryland inbounds the ball and Chris Wilcox (I will never forget) calls timeout with like .5 seconds.

What's the problem? Maryland has no timeouts left. It's a technical foul, Duke makes the FT and Duke wins by 1. It goes under.
