Record: [28-35]
Win Percentage: .444
Profit/Loss: +1,860

Yesterday, I had eight plays. Seven of the eight plays were dogs. I ended up with a 2-6 record. Of course, the only favorite I played (Cubs) lost. I was so frustrated by the end of the night that I considered taking a hiatus. Well, after thinking about it some more, I have decided to play with the $1,860 I have made so far. If I lose that, then it probably will be time for me to step away. I have also decided to vary the amounts of my wagers for the time being. For example, plays that I'm less certain about might be played for $250, whereas plays that I'm really confident about might be played for $1,500. I normally don't do this, I think it's smarter in the long run to put the same amount on every play, but I need to try something different until I get out of this funk. Let's see what happens today. Hey, if nothing else, I might be a great fade for you guys. Maybe I can help you win money that way.

Best of luck!

no losing streak has ever changed my way of playing and in the long run pays off to stick to basics....keep it up and don't mind a bad streak

man--SNAP OUT OF IT !!! It is 10 days into the season, and you are showing a PROFIT of almost 2 dimes !! Don't view it on daily terms, but look at the big picture. You didn't quit after the opening day debacle, instead you bounced back strong. Why wouldn't you think that will happen again ?? Hang tough man--you seem to be very good at what you do. Do NOT let 1 bad day get you down.

Keith,

Yes, I'm up close to two dimes, but I was up over six dimes on Monday. The last two days have been brutal! I very rarely play favorites, so I'm not enjoying betting on baseball right now in the least bit. I know it will turn around, but when?

dude--I totally understand. I got obliterated this past year in hoops. But again, you can't look at it on a daily basis--each losing day will kill you. My only suggestion is to try to be a little more selective. Since you pretty much only do dogs, a bad day can't kill you.

FWIW, while I have no record here at this site (although others at another site that shall remain nameless know my baseball plays--they "don't make sense"), I dig the Reds this afternoon.

In any event, you'll bounce back--hang tough.

yeah man dont worry about it. you'll get it back man... i know you hate betting favorites, but this is BAseball.. the good teams win most of there games. teams like yanks, cards, mets, braves, whitesox, redsox. win alot. betting dogs are good, but u have to be a little more selective with it. i hate betting the juice in Baseball but sometimes i have too.

Major,

I totally agree with you, but I refuse to do it. It goes against everything I believe as a sports handicapper. If I'm going to lose, I'm going to lose playing dogs. Best of luck to you!

Feel your pain Wise. Had two of those days you experienced already this season :( Think I've sworn to myself to take the hiatus route three times this year :) I love the doggies too so you know I was hurting. Mixed my plays up with some chalk (not the big ones :mj08: ) and am finally on the plus side. You and I both know the hounds will be hunting soon. Hang in there. Soon, those foul balls will be fair and the bull pen will actually get someone out. BOL :thumb:

I don't know if this is true, but I have heard that the professional gamblers out there play mostly favorites.

Like I said, this is what I have heard, but I don't know for sure.

They do this in all sports, not just baseball.

They also play money lines in all sports as well.

I don't know if I could lay that kind of juice.

I would love to know if anyone can really verify this, but it is definitely something to look into.

Personally, I like to play dogs, but it just seems a lot harder to pick the right dogs.

Dogs are good, but only in the right situations.

Good luck WW, you'll bounce back.

Slumps happen to the best of them out there.

WW,

I know what you mean.

It sounds nuts to me too, but this is what I have heard.

I have heard that they are very selective, but when they like something, they pound it.

I know for a fact that Fletcher is one who plays a lot of favorites.

So, I guess take it for it's worth.

It is not my strategy, it just something that I have heard over the years.

Play what you think will win. There's no value in a loser.
