From one bible-believing Christian to another....

Blessed be the name of Jesus.

thanks buddy.

it doesn't matter why it happens, but it does matter that it will happen.

i hold my children and enjoy them very night, but i am saddened that they may never enjoy life as i know it. however, i only understand existence on earth - so they probably aren't missing much.

selfishly, i would like to see them grow up and me grow old, but i do not think that there is a whole lot of time left - which is a good thing because the economic signs are not real good at all. the wars that this country have been involved are not good either, but they are destined to happen.

this is why i question our current leader, bush, he speaks of prosperity in a time of uncertainty and war, he speaks of strength when the currency is at the lowest value in my lifetime, he speaks of so many things that he appears to be ignorant about, yet he claims to be a christian......

not throwing stones, just observing and commenting

Elvis,

These truly are perilous times. Terrorism is a constant threat and it seems every major nation on earth has a nuclear device. Seems like all it would take is for some world leader to wake up on the wrong side of the bed.
My pastor has said on more than one occasion that you can talk about God all day long, but when you proclaim the name of Jesus it becomes far more exclusive. My feeling is if President Bush was a Christian as he claims, he would be praising and proclaiming the name of Jesus at every turn. Yet, I haven't heard him mention the name of Jesus at all.
I don't place any faith in this world or its systems. I've had my fill of government corruption, social injustice, public education, corporate welfare, etc. The bible says this world must come to an end and it sure seems like all the indicators are pointing in that direction. Like you, I also believe there is not a whole lot of time left. For me, it's merely a matter of when and how. I'm not going to speculate on when, but I have a feeling it may be sooner rather than later. And for those of us who believe the bible, well.....we've been forewarned.

Everyone who discovers "Jesus" thinks the world is coming to an end within the next year. ...Let this new faith of yours breath for a little while. You don't really want anything to happen - you are just high on the church's heroin right now. TRUST ME - it will wear off. These times are no more "perilous" than the ones before you found God.;)

Smurph, If you took a "leap" of faith like I did, and if you believed the bible was the divinely inspired word of God like I do, then you wouldn't "think" the world is coming to an end....you would "know". Therein lies the difference between believers and non-believers. And as far as my new faith breathing for a little while...Even my little simple peanut brain was able to reasonably conclude what it means to pick up my cross and follow Jesus. From what I've seen and heard, the journey is not an easy one but it's well worth the effort. Everyone comes to this decision on their own and my choice is to follow Christ.

You don't really want anything to happen - you are just high on the church's heroin right now. TRUST ME - it will wear off.

Of course I don't want anything to happen, but it's going to and you and I won't have a say in the matter. It has to do with sin and God's judgement. How do I know? The bible said it and I believe it. You can attack that statement anyway you wish...doesn't matter to me one iota because I believe the bible is the divinely inspired word of God.
The "high" I get is from attending a Christ-centered, bible-teaching church and hearing the truth of God's word. I'll admit, It's relatively new to me, but I like what I'm learning and it's application is rewarding. It truly is good stuff. As far as trusting you...well, that certainly won't happen. That's not a slam against you personally Smurph. But like the rest of us mere mortals, you have a sinful nature and because of this nature, I have my doubts. Trust only Jesus!

growing up, Gog and Magog was the USSR and China. Russia and Iran, I don't buy.

One of the Gog and Magog folks HAS to be China. That said, I want to stay on good terms with them.
