? The Ducks may need to recall either Jeff Deslauriers or Iiro Tarkki from Syracuse of the American Hockey League to back up Jonas Hiller if Dan Ellis? troublesome strained groin muscle doesn?t respond after not taking part in practice.
Ellis did mop up Friday, allowing Jonathan Toews? second goal of the game after Hiller was pulled early in the third period against Chicago. But the veteran has had a sore groin for a while.
?He?s been battling a groin issues for probably the better part of a week to 10 days,? Carlyle said. ?He?s missed a couple of practices. We?re going to have to probably make a decision on whether it?s going to take a little bit different procedure to get him healthy versus resting it in the days between games.
?We?ve played every second day here for a number of days and we tried to rest him a couple of times and I don?t know if we?re getting the necessary results from that.?
