Whats up with the negative post?

I thought my post was very informative. Often history repeats itself. In my opinion, this game Sat. between UCLA and OU reminded me of a game played 3 years ago between UCLA and CO.

I certainly found it interesting. Just putting this out there for everyone to read. Maybe nobody here likes to read.

The question will be whether or not UCLA can win in the trenches vs. a very poor by OU standards O-line. They are getting whipped this year, and they don't have a QB that can really strike fear into a secondary yet, and their WR are not nearly the caliber they had last season. UCLA will probably be daring Bomar to throw the ball and do what they can to shore up and take away the run. I think UCLA has a big advantage in the kicking game, where OU is unproven this year.

tell me where on the field ou has an advantage? their best play is a rb. we have an all-american senior middle linebacker. i'll take my chances 8 days a week.
revenge will be sweet. no mercy.

The problem with this game is UCLA with Dorrell is not a proven commodity. OU is with Stoops. UCLA has not win big games under HC Dorrell. Stoops at OU has. This is a big game and what is interesting about it is UCLA is expected to win and to win by double digits.

UCLA has not been tested this year and you can say the same for OU. However, UCLA has looked far more impressive. Again, the difference is OU players/coaches have been in big games and come out winners. @UCLA they have only come out losers in big games.

Now that UCLA is expected to win, they prob. will come out tight. You have to think OU will be the much looser team. I also think OU will be the better prepared team under Stoops.

Can any UCLA backers say with confidence how QB Drew Olson will perform in a big game? So far this season he has looked solid but that is against SDSU and Rice. He was not a stud last year and IMO not a reliable QB. Can any UCLA backers say with confidence how well the DL of UCLA will be stopping the rush? UCLA RB Drew is awesome (legit top 10 RB in country and prob. top 5) but the guy has a serious fumbling problem. Has he fixed it? The way I look at it this game is 50/50. But I admit I have not watched ANY OU games this season. I think if UCLA doesn't turn the ball over, they win. But win by how much? If UCLA turns the ball over, they will lose! That gives OU more carries to wear down UCLA D and prob. great field position. How well will UCLA face adversity? That is where coaching is vital and who know how good of a coach Dorrell is. IMO jury is still out.

If I was OU DC, I would stack the line and blitz the hell out of UCLA. You will shut down Drew and get pressure on QB. I think OU has good enough DB's/secondary to play man on man. UCLA WR's are horrible in getting separation. OU has to make sure they do not forget about UCLA TE Lewis is is a top 3 TE in the country. This will frustrate UCLA and I think be very successful. Rice and SDSU do not have OU athletes on D. If OU sits back and doesn't pressure UCLA, the WC offense will move the chains down the field. Make UCLA make big plays to beat you. If I followed OU closely and new they would use this style of defense, I prob. make OU a wager. I think it would work. Of course it could backfire with Drew who is very explosive. If he gets past the LOS it is a TD. But you gotta take risks. None of the UCLA WR's or TE's are explosive. Lewis has big height advantage where Drew can just throw ball up for grabs. But OU should all out blitz. Hell, maybe UCLA won't be smart enough to adjust. It def. will increase OU chances of forcing TO's. UCLA has a QB and RB who will turn the ball over.

All in all, this is tough game to cap. I def. wouldn't throw any big wager on either side.

Do not count out Bob Stoops and the Oklahoma Sooners. Adrian Peterson sat out yesterdays practice and will sit out again today. Stoops is sending a message to his team and if you think about counting out the Sooners just call Mack Brown.

My mistake on posting playing OU big i am playing UCLA; I am just saying the play is either UCLA or no play. The big difference between this OU team and previous OU team is 3 things, QB play (OU has none) compared to Huepel runner up to Heisman, Nate Hybl very underrated and actually beat out Jason White one year for Qb position and plays in the NFL, and Jason White, Heisman winner and took OU to two NC games, Depth in the trenches OU playing 3 freshman two of them true freshman on the Oline and only rotating 1 other; you usually rotate at least 3, no depth on the Dline; lost 2 starters in birdine and williams and now are only rotating 1 person on the dline and 1 on the dend; most team rotate at Minimum 6 players, and last but not certainly least the O coordinator; Chuch Long has been masked by having so much talent around him; let me ask you a question if you had 4 wr that will play or are playing in the nfl; 3 o lineman that will play or are playing in nfl; heisman winner; nfl caliber fullback and possibly the 1st pick in the draft with AD dont you think no matter what you call you will do well. Now without the talent it is showing how pathetic his play calling is; that is why OU has struggled to score 3 td in 2 games against TCU and Tulsa. People give too much credit to stoops. This is not the same OU team and you will find that out this saturday.
Good luck on whatever you play.

So Cal
I've been telling everyone,

The Bruins are for REAL !!!!

Lay the points.

Also you gotta love the revenge factor.
OU really took it to UCLA the last 2 times they played.

All I have to say is that Tulsa is a HORRIBLE run defense team and it took OU getting them tired and have to go 2 and 3 deep to be able to run all over them. UCLA may not be able to stop the run very well either, but they aren't near the bottom like Tulsa. They have depth of mediocre ILB and D-line. OU's D is a alright too. But the only difference is the passing. And UCLA is simply better. More balance means UCLA can put 8 in the box like TCU did and let OU live on the pass scraps. I don't follow UCLA THAT closely but I hope coaching is comparable to TCU and the figure out to put 8 in the box. All they have to do is stop AP.

At least that sounds simple.

Scott, thanks for bringing this piece of PAC-10 history to our attention. Despite what some others may say, I think it's helpful.

OU rushed for 97 yds hosting TCU
SMU rushed for 170 hosting TCU

OU rushed for 227 hosting Tulsa
Minny rushed for 314 @ Tulsa

watching espn today a couple of talking heads said there was dissension in OU's coaching staff, any truth to that?

"the bunker"
scott...what do you think of a cal team...that`s on the come with this kid ayoob...a supposed wunderkind....at home vs a shabby illini defense .....that gave up 507 yards of offense to rutgers at home in week one... .....laying 21.....

i`m looking at them...hate laying that wood....but,with nothing more than n mx st on deck, why wouldn`t tedford let ayoob stretch out a bit vs a mediocre illini defense?....give the kid a chance to really use that offense....and that offense looks like it can do some serious damage to a relatively weak opponent....

is cal loaded?...i haven`t touched this...21 seems steep...just trying to get a feel for cal...

thanks...

Thanks and I am glad you enjoyed it. History often repeats itself.

I was looking at this game earlier in the week and I slightly lean to Illinois. The only thing stopping me from making a play is the Illinois defense. They are not very good. I also think Illinois only has 4 seniors on the team who play. Something like that. You need a solid D to compete on the road. CAL can very well score over 40pts against the Illinois defense. Can I count on Illinois to score over 20pts? Maybe.

Illinois is talented on offense and CAL is very inexperienced on defense. Good time for Illinois to catch CAL. Up to this point, I am not sold on 2 things about CAL. Their defense and QB.

Ayoob is raw but very talented. He looked impressive against Washington but we have no clue how consistent he is. BTW, Washington clearly is the worst team in the Pac 10 but Tedford did amazing job coaching to blow them out @UW with new QB. Ayoob should get the job done to get CAL the win, but I am not confident in him to get the cover. He easily can throw INT?s and you can?t really blame him if he does.

CAL is 1-4 ATS as non conf. double digit home favorites
CAL is 15-23 ATS the last 38 games as home favorites
Illinois is 2-9 ATS last 11 games away from home

If I had to make a prediction, CAL wins 34-17.

Good luck!

Scott4U$C..
I may not always agree with what you are saying but you always provide great support for your statements...
No truth to the rumor Jamelle Holiway is suiting back up for the Sooners and the Boz will be doing some run stuffing???

Don't think those are true, but did hear that Senator JC Watts took a leave of absense to rejoin the practice squad. :)

Very good info scott

But ou is overrated, they were at the end of last season and lost alot of key players, and came back overrated again this year. UCLA is a team that got better towards the end of the season last year and they have carried it over to this season, they havnt won big games in the past but got alot of good experience last season and i think they will be ready to win this game. Most ou backers only have one good reason for playing this game, line value. Im playing ucla at -6.5 i think they are clearly the better team they will be prepared and they havnt had all the off feild distractions ou has had this week good luck with your plays this weekend

Scott4USC,

You are a true asset to these pages, and we have all made good money following your picks. Keep up the winning streak!

But I must say I'm surprised at you speaking out against the Bruins. Here is a chance for you to defend the honor of the Pac 10 against the Big 12, and you completely shine it on! WTF? Where's the love, bro? ;)

Go Bruins. (See my post)

So. Cal
good thing we get to see the aztecs get their arses kicked in columbus instead of watching the much talked about ucla-ou matchup....

whoever schedules any sdsu game for national coverage needs their head examined.
