According to the Hilton Superbook, the consensus pick of the week is Atlanta. It behooves me to no why anyone would want to back the Falcons in this spot. There not the offensive powerhouse the media and the league wants you to believe. Like the Manning brothers, the league wants you to sell you Vick like hes the quarterback of the future. Now analyst are repositioning there story........hey forget about his inability to consistently throw the football successfully, look what he brings to the game. Vick is an incredible athlete, but not the type of QB that wins a Superbowl. When has a running QB ever won a Superbowl. Im so sick of the league trying to sell me on his laser arm and how hes going to revolutionize the position. Hes the quinesstential ghetto QB that in my opinion dumbs the position. Quarterbacking is about functional intelligence.......not how high you can jump and how fast you can run. The media construct in this country is a joke, but thats anther story. The purpose of this post is to save you from yourself. I live in New Orleans, and I understand the importance of this game and what it means to the city. It represents a city on a comeback. We hosted six Superbowls in the Superdome and this game transcends all of that. People who argue that the emotion will subside after the 1st quarter are mistaking. The Superdome will be rocking tonight. This Saints team represents a new era in New Orleans and if you think that pop warner QB and the dirty birds will come into our house and not get a fight your wrong. But, forget about the emotional aspects of the game. Why do you think MNF homedogs have covered at about 70% a clip in the 20 years? Why is it that road favs year in and year out post negative ATS. I dont know maybe theres something In missing or dont understand about you new age handicappers. Only squares bet favs were I come from...........muchless road favs. All I read online was how Balitmore -6.5 was the play of the week. Or how Carolina and Chicago were just gonna roll. With the parity in the league now, why would you want to lay point , especially on the road. Nonetheless, Im not backing the Saints tonight. An old handicapping situational trend goes against the Saints. Teams that open the seaeon with there frist 2 games on the road historically havent done well in there home opener in week 3. In addition, I dont see every game as a seperate entity........I will play the Saints as a +7 dog or more. But III be damn if I would back Atlanta in this spot. Know that New Orleans can win this game outright tonight the match ups the level of talent are not as far off as you think.
