Wish I could have met up with Smashmouth for at least one night, but maybe next time. Can pretty much sum up the last three days like this:

Day one:

Me: hit me
Dealer: YOU BUST
Me: oh well.
Me: hit me
Dealer: YOU BUST
Me: darn.
Me: hit me
Dealer:YOU BUST
Me: damn it.

Day two:
Me: hit me
Dealer: YOU BUST
Me: damn it.
Me: Hit me
Dealer: YOU BUST
Me: DAMN!
Me: Hit me
Dealer: YOU BUST
Me: SONOFABITCH!!!

Day three:
Me: Stand
Dealer: HOUSE HAS BLACKJACK.
Me: Hit me
Dealer: YOU BUST
Me: mutherfawker.
Me: Stand
Me again: you six card, 21 drawing fat bastard!

This went on for most of the 72 hours I was there. All in all we had a good time, lost a bit of cash, but that is to be expected in that place.

It's been over 4 years since I was there last, is it me or is the actual town of Atlantic City getting even worse than it was before? Town seemed a bunch more run down than I remember, the boardwalk is still very nice, but overall I was a bit dissapointed in the area, of course dropping a boat-load of cash can alter one's view of things a bit.

Atlantic City

I live about 2 hours from AC so I head down there every once in a while to throw some $$$ around.

AC is a compete and total dump!

The only reason to go there are the casino's.

The boardwalk is nice but the water and sand are dirty and the thought of going in that water is nasty.

Us Pennsylvanians, who used to drive to NJ and Delaware for the beach a lot now must go to Ocean City, MD, Virginia Beach, Florida or better yet, an island.

Vegas is the bomb compared to AC.

I was trying to be subtle, but since you said it, I have to agree the town was a total dump from end to end, very dissapointing. The boardwalk was still nice though and the casinos haven't went downhill at all, the Taj should be able to add a wing after I left there.
Plan to go recoup some of the losses later this year, maybe I'll drop you a note and we can grab a beer. By the way WHAT THE FAWK IS UP WITH THE TRAFFIC IN YOUR TOWN MY FRIEND?!?!!!

haven't been to atlantic city in about 10 years & even then thought it was pretty worn down. was hoping that they would re-do the surrounding areas to make the place more attractive. surprised & sorry that it hasn't been done.

when i was younger i used to go to wildwood, nj. they had very nice beaches & many clubs.the nite life was great. remember seeing iggy pop there. does anybody know wildwood still a nice place ?

Wildwood is still an okay place to go ... I was more referring to the polluted, green disgusting water and somewhat dirty beaches of New Jersey and Delaware. Obviously some are better than others.

Me and most people I know prefer to go to Ocean City, MD these days but there is still decent night life in Jersey.

I am actually from a bit North of Philly ... I live about an hour from there but since I am a diehard Philly sports fan and most people have no idea where Reading, PA is ... I changed my location to near Philly, PA.

The traffic is horrible, however, because many people commute from some very nice areas in Jersey (Cherry Hill for one where many atheletes and celebs live) to Philly for work and many people up my way also work down there but it is nicer and less expensive to live outside the city. I don't like the traffic though either, especially on weeknights trying to head down to a sporting event, concert, etc.... it's hell.

And I am primarily a blackjack man myself when it comes to playing at Casinos. I enjoy poker but more with friends and stuff in local games. I am not nearly a sharp enough player to play with guys like Nolan Dalla, etc... ;)

It's to bad AC is such a shit hole because it could be nice.

I actually like playing cards until 5:30 or 6:00 in the morning and then getting breakfast and taking a nice walk on the boardwalk.

The beach is un-visitable. I've always heard they like it that way because it keeps people in the casinos. But, they keep saying they want to attract people to AC for more than the casinos. Hello! You have a great big beach right there.

Oh, and O.C. New Jersey is a nice beach town. But, it's dry -- no booze sold. But if you're looking for a nice town, not too developed, with great beaches and a little bit of surfing, there ya go. short drive to AC too.

I went to a Riverboat Casino in Southern Indiana Sunday also and couldn't believe how many times I had 20 shoved up my :moon: I got down about 4 dollars and felt good to only loose a dollar and a half when it was all over. Still had fun. Wife won about a dollar on the slots. Funny, when I win she wants her half but I never saw any of her profits.

I haven't been to AC in years. But since Las Vegas seems unrealistic this year because of time I have been thinking of spending a couple of days there.
Boilermaker, in my house it seems like we have "our" money and "her" money.:(

I wish I could of met you for a drink also. Work is nuts and dad not doing well. As for Ac it sucks, but t serves the purpose I guess.
There are a lot of great beach towns in the summer, I won't post them here because I don't want to attract the out of staters, because they are the ones who ruin them anyway.
I'm glad the philly people have started to go to maryland to ruin there towns.

Where I grew up it was the staten island and north jersey people that ruined our shore towns in the summer. 45 mins south though it was the PHILLY element. One guess what was worse.

Hint.
They need a jail in their football stadium.

i don't understand why business people, like trump, don't push to fix up the beaches, re-do the surrounding areas, & put some decent restaurants, that are not located in the casinos, in the neighborhoods.

smashmouth,

i used to go to a private beach next to monmouth racetrack. i think we used to pay about $3 or $4 to enter.this prevented the beach from being wall to wall people, & was very clean.

concerning money, my wife has a saying what's mine is mine, & what's yours is mine.

Simple ... there is really NOTHING to do but gamble because everything else sucks ... Trump and the others are raking in the $$$ cause that is where anyone there is ... inside losing $$$.

I agree that they should fix it up and they would attract more visitors but maybe not more gambling $$$.

Unfortunately, no one cares as long as people are getting rich.

Were you on the Caesers Riverboat in Southern, IN boardering KY ... I've been there ... dated a girl who bartends/cocktail waitresses there. I got nail with a bunch of 5 and 6-card 20 and 21's there as well.

LMAO- with all due respect smashmouth 3 months out of a year JUNE,JULY,AUGUST at the jersey shore us PHILLY folks take our 1-2 hour drive to visit YOUR beaches and boardwalks you know because we have an incredible amount of billboards up and down I-95 in the PHILLY area trying to draw us there, depending on which point we decide to visit spend a ton of cash even if we don't choose A.C.to keep those mom and pop shops going on the boards and you seem to think its the tourists who are ruening your beaches??????? Don't you think that it could have something to do with the locals????? They don't seem to care anymore take a look around my friend the Jersey coast has been going down the tube and I don't believe by NOTrefering people to the nicer spots that the Jersey shore has to offer is going to save the place, one bit .........Maybe if the Jersey locals took my pride in where they live then you know...............

The towns I go to in the summer are clean and well maintained all summer. You just have too stay away from the tourist towns like Wildwood, Point, Seaside, and a few others. The locals beaches are clean and taken care of with pride by the people who live near them.
