As of now, my largest wager of the bowl season.
Texas historically has flourished as Dogs.
A team without a winning record vs one of the best QB's in the nation.
Texas with out the opt outs vs a Washington team that has had their best year in a longgggggg time!
UW coach Kalen DeBoer, in his first bowl game, post w Fresno state.
I see the only advantage for The Longhorns, is that they are in San Antonio.... Basically a home game, but where is the incentive or excitement........ I don't see much!
Their biggest moment was to lose a close game to Bama.
I will give Texas a huge advantage w the marching band, as I was in San Antonio, for their FIESTA, in April..... They were part of the night parade, and it was obvious how beloved they were, just like the Houston Astros!!
Today is the night of the Huskies from Washington..... They are Dawgs and will Bark loudly!!

With ya' Ox. Small parlay with Ucla-7'.

Right on Bud!!!!!

I'm scared to play UCLA, as DTR the running back Charbonnet are a big question if they play.

I wish you the best, and let's toast after the Huskies wrangle Los Longhorns!!

From todays Pittsburgh Post Gazette -

Eight Pitt starters have announced that they won’t be playing in the bowl game, with a few others also likely unavailable due to injury. On the offensive side of the ball, Pitt will be missing starting quarterback Kedon Slovis, who transferred to BYU, along with All-American running back Israel Abanikanda and veteran right tackle Gabe Houy, who both opted out of the game to begin preparation for the 2023 NFL draft.

On defense, edge rusher Deslin Alexandre, linebacker SirVocea Dennis and safety Brandon Hill have all also opted out to focus on the draft. Starting defensive end John Morgan III is no longer with the program after transferring to Arkansas. And unanimous All-American defensive tackle Calijah Kancey is out due to injury. Senior defensive end Habakkuk Baldonado is also unlikely to play due to lingering injuries that kept him out of Pitt’s regular season finale against Miami.

UCLA, on the other hand, currently has no starters who are expected to miss the Sun Bowl ... at least that’s what its head coach says.

“Our players are excited to get out here and get a good couple of practices in,” Chip Kelly told reporters following his team’s first workout in El Paso on Tuesday afternoon. “I expect everybody to practice on Wednesday and we’ll go from there. ... Everybody is practicing and fully ready.”

Without a handful of its starters, Pitt will need a few reserve players to step up against Kelly’s squad. Narduzzi said earlier this month that it will be a mix of old and young Panthers who receive opportunities to make an impact.

“The Number 1 thing we’re doing is trying to win a football game,” Narduzzi said following his team’s practice on Dec. 19. “It’s not about 2023. That was our focus today — just finishing, and we’re gonna finish the season. And we’re gonna do whatever we can to win the football game.

“At some positions, that means some young guys that haven’t had a lot of reps get a chance. ... I’m looking forward to it. And some of these young guys are going to have opportunities.”

Ohhhhhhhhh SHIAT!
I really thought that Pitt would be Intact, as well as UCLA's best being out....... I'm gonna hold off until gametime, to make any sense of a wager.
My concern about UCLA, is that this game is at the SUN BOWL!
Its a downer, considering DTR has like yearmber 7 this year it seams like, as well as the other prime time Playahs for UCLA.
I was looking at dropping some cash on Pitt.
But not now.... Let's see how tomorrow looks.

Thank you Buddy!!

Washington should control the rest of this game. The lack of Texas best cover guy being out, is only an Ace in the hole for the Huskies. Without a running game..... Texas is toast!!!!
I'm going to enjoy the rest of the game.
No middling on Texas, nor puttin more on UW.
If I did, it would be on UW, but I have too much wagered on this game, Already..... Hooooooo Huskies!!

Ox, I owe you one. Without Abanikanda, never thought Pitt would play that well. Nor UCLA that poorly, although they were up by 14. Sorry if I influenced your decision.

Hey Buddy.... It's all Good.
I did my Due Diligence, and thought that the RB Charbonnet was playing.
Adjustmens that Pitt made, and turnovers were the difference. I had a feel g I should. Bought back soem at the half, merely for the nice middle gap.... Ohhhhhhh well!!!
Onward and to the GREEN CASHIERS CAGE!!!

BOL!!!

EL PASO, Texas — Down a pair of scores in the second half against a ranked opponent, Pat Narduzzi’s team had every reason to mail it in. Down by a single point with just 34 seconds remaining, the Panthers once again could’ve easily done the same.

Yet, on both occasions, Pitt decided to fight back. The final result? A dramatic 37-35 victory over No. 18 UCLA on Friday afternoon in the 89th Sun Bowl.

In a game that was back and forth from start to finish, the true heroes, of all people, were Pitt kicker Ben Sauls and redshirt senior backup quarterback Nick Patti. The former drilled a game-winning kick — his fifth successful field goal of the game — with four seconds remaining that was set up thanks to a final-minute, four-play, 46-yard drive from the career backup.

The Panthers (9-4) drew first blood on the game's opening drive, when a few sharp throws along with a 41-yard scamper from Patti resulted in a 22-yard field goal from Sauls. Following a Bruins (9-4) drive that ended in an 11-yard touchdown connection between Logan Loya and Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Sauls responded with another field goal — this one coming from 49 yards out at the end of the first quarter.

Thompson-Robinson gave UCLA some breathing room early in the second quarter with a 1-yard touchdown rush. A 15-yard touchdown reception by Bub Means from Patti, followed by a two-point conversion catch from Konata Mumpfield, tied things at 14 with 3:49 left in the half.

UCLA’s star signal caller got one final blow in before the two teams entered the locker room at halftime, finding Titus Mokiao-Atimalala from 28 yards out to give the Bruins a 21-14 lead.

In the second half, after UCLA defensive back Jaylin Davies’ pick-six, it was all Pitt. Rodney Hammond Jr. found the end zone from 1 yard out to cap off an 11-play, 75-yard response drive. Hammond scored again early in the fourth quarter, this time from 7 yards out, following a Bangally Kamara interception to tie things up at 28.

Just one play after Sauls’ successful PAT tied the game, Solomon DeShields set Pitt up to retake the lead, recovering a fumble on the ensuing kickoff at the UCLA 19. Sauls drilled home a field goal from 31 yards with 10:38 remaining to put Pitt ahead for good. The redshirt sophomore kicker hit one more from 27 yards with 4:24 left on the clock for what seemed at the time like good measure.

UCLA, however, delivered one final push, scoring a go-ahead touchdown with 34 seconds left when T.J. Harden rushed in for an 8-yard touchdown. Patti and Co. of course responded with the game-winning-score just 30 seconds later, when Pitt’s offense set up Sauls for a 47-yard game-winner.

Key stat: Despite hardly seeing any time this season, Pitt put its faith in Patti.

The redshirt senior ended his time with the Panthers delivering the best effort of his collegiate career, completing 20 of his 41 pass attempts for 232 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also rushed for 81 yards on 10 carries.
