Blockbuster is the biggest scumbag corporation in America today.
They are the poster child for what is wrong with the economy.
They owed over $600 million to banks and creditors that was due last Sept and they didn't have it. The banks restructured the deal with higher interest figuring that BB would file for bankruptcy and they would never see a dime.
Now BB is over $900 million in debt and losing money EVERY SINGLE QUARTER. The store is a dinosaur as digital times have passed it by and the online market is dominated by Netflix and not them.
This is a company that was losing money and almost merged with Circuit City who filed for bankruptcy months later.
Blockbuster is simply dragging their feet as bankruptcy is a 100% lock in the future. $900M in debt and growing and your company has not made a quarterly profit even in years.

I would be looking for a new job right now if I worked for them and please nobody consider their stock even if it is under $1 like it is right now.
Low risk but no reward. Just remember the figure $900 MILLION if you consider buying some BBI stock.

And if you want another sign that Blockbuster is doomed.
The last 2 October's Netflix stock has been between $17 and $18.
This October it ended at $60.
A stock that never got above $35 before this year.

I got 100 shares of it at $19.05 a little over 2 years ago. I am kicking myself for not getting more but 2 grand was all I could afford.

I almost grabbed some BBI stock when rumors started going around of banruptcy back in March and it fell to under a quarter per share. It has rebounded to as high as $1.40 since. Sits at .75 now.
Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

someone is laughing with a large bank account

Blockbuster was the only game in town and had quite a 10-12 year run

my wife would go in there every weekend and get 5-6 movies at a time at 4-5 bucks .

they were cash king for a long time.

I rented two movies today from the RedBox at a Kroger grocery store directly across the street from a Blockbuster store.

Two movies = $2.18

Same two movies at BB = $9.81

"In regards to the late fees, I understand the amount is based on what you lose by not being able to rent the movies out. You probably had people lined up around the block waiting to rent Logan's Run."
