Web question, Yet again

If you would like to put a 'coming soon" page or something similar up on your account, you can upload a "index" file to your public_html folder. Your ftp address is listed in your Welcome Email.

I got that message from my web host I just signed up with. My question is, wtf is a ftp??? They gave me numbers, but how do you physically get into that address to post updates et al, do you have to change the web settings? This stuff's a little over my head and these computer workers assume everyone knows their language, Thanks for the help

Yes I'm trying to build a web-page. Have all the content, ideas, et al pretty much set up to go, waiting for my host to do a few things, and I don't know enough about programming and web design, I need to hire someone or work out an agreement where I can make them a partner w/me if my site does well down the line, b/c I can't afford to invest a ton right off the bat, whatever help anyone can give me or lead me in the right direction I appreciate By the way FM, will be in texas from dec20-jan 3 like I posted, looking fwd to having a beer with you maybe
