I am trying to make a website for my business, and I have come to a point where I need some help.

I am trying to make a spot, where members can log into a certain members site, and access different pages, but they will need a password to access it.

I have looked at a few help sources, and talked to people, and they say us ASP, but only certain host sites allow this, and I don't know the ASP language.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about this, or if there is any other way to do this in Dreamweaver, Frontpage, HTML, Java, or whatever.

Please let me know, as it is much appreciated.

Thanks

Warning: I've got very little experience with this.

What I did was this:

My site uses a Plesk server, and I went to the domain administration page. It allowed me to create a password protected directory (could do SSL or non-SSL). This was a folder within my regular folder.

I then set up various accounts and passwords throught the same admin page.

within that folder that was created, I can just toss in regular html pages and they work.

I don't know how secure this method is, but it can keep an idiot like me from accessing it.

you can try it out and see if it works for you:
http://66.227.114.17/protected

the only user available is:
ID-guest
PW-password

try it out if you want.
