Kansas City area for who knows how long....
I'm back online, but will be limited 'cause I do baseball too. That means 23 games today to look at!

Tampa Bay at Washington...................................................................................

TB 10-22-5 away
WA is 19-13-5 at home

Teams have met four times this season. WA won last three, first one tied.

WA 8-1-1 vs TB last 10
WA 8-0 vs TB at WA last 8

under hit 4-1-1 last 6 meetings, and 3-1-1 last five at WA

Khabib has given up 15 goals in his last 4 starts.

TB is 13 points from playoff spot, 1-5-1 last seven games, 0-5 last five, and 0-4-2 last 6 on road.

WA is two points from final playoff spot. A win tonight would tie them with Montreal for it.

Caps 6-1 last seven. All but one of those on road. Impressive for such a bad road team. And missing players, this from Caps official site:

"The Capitals were able to achieve the weekend wins despite the absence of four regular defensemen - Calle Johansson, Sergei Gonchar, Ken Klee and Frantisek Kucera -from their lineup. Rookies Todd Rohloff and Nolan Yonkman were recalled from the team??s Portland AHL affiliate and both acquitted themselves well against New Jersey and New York.

Of the four missing blueliners, Gonchar is the closest to returning to live action. His status for Wednesday??s game will be determined at some point Wednesday morning.

Washington has now won six of its last seven games. The Capitals have returned to their trademark - a stifling defensive style - and have allowed a combined total of just 11 goals in the six victories"
........................................................................................................................

WA papers say Gonchar is probable.

TB paper here sez Martin St Louis, team leader in goals and points when he broke his leg 10 weeks ago, should play tonight............................................http://www.sptimes.com/2002/04/03/Lightning/St_Louis_says_he_s_re.shtml

and paper here reports that Andre Roy suspended for 13 games and St Louis a bit wary about return due to Straka's bad luck after his return from broken leg........

Blues at Dallas

Blues at Dallas

Teams went 1-1-1 in this season's meetings.

Last two featured Johnson and Belfour, as should tonight. Belfour won 3-2 at Dallas, Johnson backstopped a 5-2 win at St Louis.

four of last five meetings went into OT

Dallas is 3 points behind STL for final playoff spot in Conference.

Dallas 3-3-4 last ten. Confidence up after stopping an 4 game winless streak with last game's win. But that was against Columbus, the worst team in the Conference.....

Dallas 3-1 last four at home.

STL is 5-5 last 10.

STL under hits 10-3 this season after allowing four goals or more in previous game.

FT Worth paper here has a piece on why Belfour starts tonight................................................http://www.dfw.com/mld/startelegram/sports/hockey/nhl/2987994.htm

this from Stars official site:

"Stars goaltender Ed Belfour said Tuesday that he will be back in the lineup Wednesday when the Stars take on St. Louis, and coach Rick Wilson said Belfour will be his starter against the Blues. On Monday, Jason Arnott scored two goals in a 3-1 victory against Columbus. Jere Lehtinen is questionalbe with an ankle injury and Pat Verbeek will be out with a groin injury"

important new Buffalo injuries. Under?

Jim Lorenz' column on Sabres official site here sez JP Dumont and Campbell out for a while. And team now gonna play defense big......................http://www.sabres.com/gameday/booth/index.html

under has hit 6-1 in last seven meetings.

NYI have three overs in a row now, and under has hit 6-2 this season after 3 consecutive overs.

Biron has been excellent of late, and is 5-1-0 vs NYI, with 1.00 gga and .958 save pct.

Osgood is 6-4-1 vs Buff, with 2.09 gga and .914 pct. His last trip to Buffalo was March 12, where he shut them out 3-0.

now watch it go over!

Balls Deep
I initially liked Buffalo, but think I might be leaning towards the isles. NY is clicking on all cylinders it seems and needs all the points it can get. Buffalo is on the outside looking in, but still has a chance so it's an important game for them. As your numbers show, and with that article and the importance of the game, lean to the Under. The only thing that holds me back is how Buffalo has owned the Islanders of late.

Is anyone else having a hard time capping right now? I feel lost, I can't get a feeling on any games and am second guessing myself like crazy. It's too hard to figure out motivation, or lack of it. Some teams like playing spoilers, some will fold and pack it in and get ready for golf. Maybe I should take a break before the playoffs.

Good luck tonight
