Kansas City area for who knows how long....
Detroit -1.5 +154
over TB/Pitt 6 -125

Detroit got payback in mind for loss other week and last season playoffs, looking good with Markkanen in net....Both teams at Pitt been scoring bunches when they don't meet a big defensive team like Anaheim.

yesterday 0-2 SU and 0-1 parlay! :com:

as I said all these top goalies should go under, and they all did. The one game without top goalies went so over it ruined the under salami 28.5. Total
on evening was 29. :mj16: or look at it another way, that garbage empty net goal Calgary got (I knew they couldn't put more than 2 past Turco) both ruined my
Calgary under team total 2.5 and the under GS! :(

yup, night of bad bounces for me. I was thinking of taking 3 or 4 unders, but thought of less exposure of risk and just take the GS.

still learning, and I usually do poorly this early in the season (I generally start seriously making money in January or so), by that measure I'm doing fine...

overall
SU pics: 20-18, +0.60

parlays: 4-7, -1.24

all flat bet 1 unit risk per pic (for example, a +135 pic would pay 1.35 units, a -135 pic would pay 0.74 units, no rounding up or down).

no SU chalk over -170. Lines from pinnacle (a few from thegreek) available at time of this post.

Good Luck All!

In reference to your Redwings pick, I highly doubt that during an 80 game season that any team has revenge on thier minds because of a loss here or there. In college maybe with the rivalries but revenge isnt a commodity when betting professional sports. In other words I wouldnt factor revenge into any professional sports capping. Are you telling me that the wings didnt play as hard as they could during the 1st meeting and that in this game they will? Sounds ridiculous doesnt it. Goodluck with your pick.

you couldn't be more wrong

you couldn't be more wrong

but don't worry, I'm here to tutor you.

first, I wrote "payback" as I do think "revenge" is a bit too strong to use in most of these situations.

second, Detroit wasn't in much of a position to play hard and get back at Edmn Oct 21 as Det was playing 4th game in 6 nights on road, had not been playing well lately, and anyway a rested Edmn got two lucky breaks at end of 3rd to win it.

Getting knocked out of playoffs by a team is quite different from "a loss here or there" (your ridiculous characterization).

Carolina, for example, is now 0-4-1 vs teams they beat in playoff run last season. Coincidence?

Maybe you think so, but there are people who might know a bit better.

Carolina lost 0-4 to Montreal Nov 2. "We wanted to get this win, no doubt," Koivu said....."It's a good standard to start the year -- if we can beat them, it'll let them know that it's not going to be like last year, maybe," Huet said

Carolina lost 0-4 to NJ Oct 6..."Since I've been here, it's happened twice where they knocked us out," Gionta said. "We're not happy unless we win the Cup, so to get knocked out by them, it's nice to come back in here and get a little revenge and start the season off nice."

the best bet I ever saw in NHL was when a rested Wings team met Anaheim in first game after Ducks knocked them out of Stanley run. Detroit players said they'd been gritting their teeth all the while to get back at Ducks and whupped them 7-2.

and the most pertinent comments, from Detroit newspaper this morning:

...of course, Detroit fans know all too well what happened in the first round of the playoffs.

"We didn't think we were playing as well (the first game between the teams this season) and
we look forward to making amends to that," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said.

you still think I shouldn't factor it in handicapping professional sports in general, and this game in particular?

edit: Detroit won the game 3-0 (should go like this all the time! :SIB
