There's a lot of games on the NBA card for this second night of the season, but by far and away the top play is the total with this game at Charlotte. Vegas has set this total too high and this one's staying under the posted number. Five of the last seven meetings have stayed under and this one will, too. In last years four meetings, only twice did a team manage to score better than 93 poinst, and one of those was a 98-point effort.
The boys in Vegas have set this total too high in response to the Pacers' new commitment to a simplified full-court attack. Indiana won't be a half-court grind it out team much more, but this team ain't the Phoenix Suns just yet. It's going to take some time for the Pacers to adjust. Their offense was spotty in the preseason, and was awful in the final two exhibition contests when the Pacers committed 61 turnovers.
Charlotte played better defense at home than on the road last year and this tam hasn't meshed offensively. One reason is that Bernie Bickerstaff can't decide how best to utilize rookie Adam Morrison in relation to his playing time with veteran Brevin Knight. At this stage of the very young season, defenses are further along than offenses and that will be the case tonight as this game stays under.
