Updated record for posts: 58-47 for +18.5 units
Northwestern +3 for 4 units ? Wildcats only had one conference win all of last year. Anyone that has seen them knows they are a much improved team. Carmody has these guys playing well and they should end this game matching last year?s conference win total.
Notre Dame -7.5 for 7 units ? DePaul?s weaknesses play right into the Irish?s strength?s for this one. DePaul?s horrible transition D as well as inability to guard even average perimeter shooters sets this up to be a nightmare matchup. DePaul?s best big man, Mac Koshwal, has had issues with staying out of foul trouble this year and Notre Dame is smart enough to exploit that. Dar Tucker is another star for DePaul and a stud, but gets into showmanship contests. Against talent like Notre Dame has, he will press trying to do too much. When ND plays in Chicago they always pack at least half the arena. Tomorrow will be even more skewed though. The DePaul faithful are down on the program (mainly the coach) and most fans will not be attending and rather getting their fill on New Year?s Eve.
Utah State -12.5 for 4 units ? 3rd straight day with a game for both clubs. The Aggies are the better team in essentially every facet, have better depth, more veterans/experience and have been at home for this tourney. The Cowboys have strung together a nice record to date, but will face a pretty solid team here and go down fairly easily.
Creighton -10 for 4 units ? MVC preseason favorite travels to the team picked to finish last in the conference. Not much has changed thus far into the season to change those thoughts. Sycamores did just get a conference OT win against N. Iowa, but the Panthers are average at best. Teams with really good front court players will give Creighton trouble, but that isn?t Indiana State at all.
St. John?s +8.5 for 2 units ? two of the lower tier teams in the Big East doing battle. Providence is the better club with some good players and they will definitely get the win, however St. John?s will keep it close throughout.
GL guys and happy new year. :00x1 :00x9
