wednesday college hoops plays........

coulda been a great day tuesday if not for the absolute scoring barrage in the 2h of florida/carolina. nonetheless, no complaints as finally had a day where no teams folded on me. iowa state played just about their best game of the season, and marshall controlled the game from the opening tip and never trailed, cashing the moneyline. makes up for a pi$$ poor monday.

played these on wednesday:

2 units...... ohio university (+4.5) over virginia
1 unit........ ohio university moneyline (+175) over virginia

looking at a handful of other games, especially mizzou but want to make sure rosters get settled and will wait that one out.

southwest missouri state is tempting as well.
but just played ohio university for now.

Could you give me reasoning on why youare so strong on Ohio? Not bashing or questioning, I just see a big difference in talent of leagues and the competition they play:shrug:

a few reasons:

1) ohio has a habit of playing up and down to the level of their competition. they have some inexplicable losses this year, but they have so much talent that theyre able to put it together every now and then and really play well. they dominated kent state in a game that wasnt as close as the final score, and they had a respectable showing earlier this season vs kentucky.

2) bobcats are a senior-led team. they arent going to be intimidated or feel like they "dont belong on the court with an acc team". this exact same ohio team went into the dean dome last year and beat north carolina outright. hunter is a legit nba prospect and im sure he is looking forward to matching up with watson and brown tonight.

i forget which EXACT kentucky player made the quote (was either chucky hayes or marquis estill) , but he said that brandon hunter was the "best player he has played all year....period". which is saying something coming from an sec player who faces guys like ron slay, mario austin, et al every night.

3) virginia is spiraling downward.....and fast. they cant win on the road, and they have nothing to play for right now. dont get me wrong- i DO value "class difference", but ONLY in the right context

you cant look at this game and simply say "acc vs mac, acc wins"

hell, kent state beat a big east, big 12, and sec team in the tourney last year.

class DOES matter.

but im not buying that "virginia is playing for pride and doesnt want to be laughed at"

for starters, losing to ohio wouldnt be a "bad" loss. the line being 4 points says something in itself.

but if virginia had so much pride, they wouldnt be going in the tank at the end of a promising season. they could have showed some resolve after losing to duke- but the cavs have fallen apart and right now their only focus in on winning the acc tourney to salvage their season
