Kansas City area for who knows how long....
I will be gone for next several days, and offline. Gotta work up my bankroll for Baseball season in a more sure way than betting hockey!

..............Dallas stuff.................................................................................

Dallas Morning News sez "The Stars will be short-handed for Wednesday's game with St. Louis. Newly acquired Jason Arnott is nursing a sore back and ribs. Even though he skated for 45 minutes Tuesday, he still couldn't shoot and is at least several days away from playing. And Pierre Turgeon is unlikely to play with a strained rotator cuff that has sidelined him for three games. ... The Stars recalled wing Rob DiMaio from the AHL's Utah Grizzlies. "

No word yet on Dallas goalie tonight. I would expect Belfour, and Johnson for STL.

more from paper:

Wilson broke the news the day before the Stars face St. Louis in a key Western Conference game Wednesday.

"These are core guys," Wilson said. "These are guys who have been here for a long time and been part of a lot of winning, a lot of adversity. That's how you really become tight. This isn't a normal trade. It's like pulling your arms out of the socket. How long will it take to grow new arms? We have to grow them by tomorrow night."

Players were stunned after winning the Stanley Cup with Nieuwendyk and Langenbrunner in 1999 and going back to the finals the next season.

"It was a sad day in the dressing room," defenseman Richard Matvichuk said. "Tears were flowing on both sides. We have to bring in the new guys [Wednesday]. That's a big test to overcome. We overcame the coaching change. We have to overcome this."

Langenbrunner tried to put the best face on the move in an interview with Rogers Sportsnet.

"It definitely was a shock," Langenbrunner said. "But Joe and I have been [road] roommates since my rookie year, and we're good friends,

and Dallas is one of those teams that do poorly coming off road trips.

Dallas is 2-5 SU in first home game after a multiple-game road trip this season.

But STL is playing 3rd game in 4th nights, back to back, and on road. Teams have won 32% in this situation on road. But STL is pumped after last night, and 2-1-1 last four on road.

NJ at Chicago

NJ at Chicago

Star-Ledger sez Elias is out with flu, didn't make the trip. But the new team mates from Dallas will be in lineup tonight.

the Sun Time here sez Odelein excited about being a Blackhawk, and Reekie is back tonight. Mark Bell is out for a week, and Casey Hankinson recalled...................................................http://www.suntimes.com/output/hawks/cst-spt-hawk20.html

..................................................................................................................
this from covers

NJ is 3-1 ATS in the last four meetings.
The under is 26-15 for the Devils when the total is 5 or less.
The under is 19-11 when NJ is on the road.
The under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings.
CHI is 21-9-7 ATS on one days rest.
The under is 7-1 in the B'Hawks last eight overall.

................................................................................................................
and this from Hawks' official site:

Right now, the Hawks are struggling offensively. In the last nine games, Chicago has scored just 17 goals. During that span they have scored more than two goals in a game once - a 5-1 over the Rangers on March 7th. On a positive note, the team has only given up 17 goals during that same nine-game stretch - a testament to their solid team defense....

Sutter is expected to go with Jocelyn Thibault (30-20-9) in goal where he will face Canadian gold medallist Martin Brodeur (29-24-9).

Atlanta at Tampa Bay

Atlanta at Tampa Bay

TB is 2-0-3 last five, and 4-2-1 last 7 at home.

AT is 1-8-1 last 10, and 6-26-1 on road.
0-6-1 last 7 on road

TB is 4-1-1 all time vs Atl in TB

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AT will start Hnilicka tonight sez Schutz in At paper. He also writes:

Rookie goalie Pasi Nurminen, coming off a poor outing in Monday's 4-2 loss to Pittsburgh, was demoted to Chicago (AHL). Goalie Frederic Cassivi and center Kamil Piros were recalled. The team wants to get a better read on Cassivi before he becomes a free agent. ......

One day after trading Ray Ferraro, the Thrashers reaffirmed the obvious Tuesday: The notion of competing lies somewhere in the future, deep under a pile of prospects and draft picks.........

Left winger Darcy Hordichuk, a fan favorite during call-ups, surprisingly was dealt to Phoenix........

Detroit did not make its last offer for Slegr until 2:45 p.m. --- 15 minutes before the deadline.

Slegr was having lunch when his cellphone rang about 1 p.m.

"That was [agent] Tony [Kondel]," he said as he put the phone down. "It's down to two teams --- Colorado and Detroit. Not bad either way."

Colorado ended up trading for Pittsburgh's Darius Kasparaitis.

After the deal, Slegr thanked the Thrashers, adding, "I'm going to an organization where I have the best shot for the Cup."

Unlike the one he is leaving.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tampa Bay has put out three important players on teams headed to playoffs in recent games, and with new guys from trades can be even more agressive sez paper here........................................http://bolts.tbo.com/lightning/MGAI3ZAI0ZC.html

under is 14-1 for TB when total is 5.5, the one cover was last meeting with Atlanta.

Khabib should start. Coach said he'll probably get all the starts left except maybe the back to back nights

TB is 10 points from playoff spot.
