Kansas City area for who knows how long....
LA Kings at Pittsburg.................................

Word is Lemieux will play, but his hip is hurt just as bad as ever. He's on painkillers, "you can't keep doing that stuff forever", he is quoted here.....http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news/ap/20020226/ap-penguins-lemieux.html

Marty Straka returns after a four month absence. He will skate in first line with Lemieux and Morozov.

LA is 15-11-5 away
Pitt is 13-13-2 at home

LA is 2-3-2 on 0 day rest, 1-2 on 0 day rest after a win.
Pitt is 0-6-1 on 3+ days rest

Penguins are seven points from final playoff berth.

LA 4-2-1 last seven games.
Pitt 0-6-1 last 7. 2-5 last 7 at home. wins were against rival WA and lame AT.

Last LA/Pitt meeting was nov 2000 at Pitt, and game ended in 2-2 tie.

LA is 22-38-10 all time at Mellon Arena, but 3-0-2 last five.

These teams meet once more this season, March 16 in LA.

I assume Storr will start in goal for LA. Potvin did tues, and he has never started consecutive nights yet this season.

Storr is 3-1-1 vs Pitt, 2.55 gga, .897 pct.
He's 7-4-3 this season overall, sporting 1.89 gga, .923 pct. He gave up 3 goals in season start. Every start since then he has given up 2 or less.

LA next plays Columbus at home, March 2.
Pitt next game is thurs at Columbus.

Minnesota at Anaheim

Minnesota at Anaheim

Wild are 7-18-3 away
Anaheim 11-16-3 at home

Wild have been rejuvenating themselves at a fancy resort in SoCal. And article sez players will now be "competing for pride...and their jobs"......http://www.startribune.com/stories/1330/1703511.html

MN 1-7-2 last 10. But 1-1-1 just before break, and played solid in those three games.
Anaheim 7-3 last 10.

Kariya just played well on hugely talented Gold Medal team, and now returns to captain his Ducks, who are dead last in Pacific Division.

Wild are dead last in NW division.

Teams have met three times this season. Ducks won 5-1 at MN (12/1), then a 2-2 tie at MN (1/11), finally a Duck 3-2 OT win at Pond (1/23).

Giguere was in the crease for all three of those. So this season he's 2-0-1 vs MN, 1.66 gga, .948 save percentage.

Wild defenseman Flip Kuba still out. And Wes Walz is questionable.

Only Anaheim injury is usual suspect Steve Rucchin

I can't find confirmation yet, but I can't imagine Brodeur going again tonight. I'll keep looking, but I think Vanbiesbrouck will start tonight for NJ.

Goalies, Ducks and olympians

Goalies, Ducks and olympians

for what it's worth, here's covers goalie predictions:

LA Kings- Jamie Storr
Pittsburgh Penguins- Johan Hedberg

Detroit Red Wings- Dominick Hasek
Florida Panthers- Robert Luongo

Philadelphia Flyers-Roman Cechmanek
New Jersey Devils- Martin Broduer

Montreal Canadiens- Jose Theodore
Chicago Blackhawks- Jocelyn Thibault

Minnesota Wild- Roloson
Anaheim Mighty Ducks- Giguere

I'm not sure about Hasek/Luongo. But if so, here's an under!

Bergen County Record sez Beezer instead of Brodeur tonight or tomorrow.

Can't confirm the Chechmanek getting b/b starts. He was sluggish last night. Many of the non-olympians were. Almost all of the olympians were definitely not! So Kariya could have a big one. Ducks will honor his Gold and teammate's Bronze in ceremony before the game.

And LA Times reports that Duck's Rucchin "said he will play wednesday".

Thibault was pulled last night after 20 mins, so might be in tonight. or Passmore.

Can't confirm Theodore, or Roloson either.

So only ones I'm sure on is Storr, Hedberg, and Giguere.

Lemieux said he will play tonight, but he's not 100%...........http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/sports/s_19573.html
