Akron @ Miami, Ohio - Just got done looking at some things in another MAC mid-week special. I'll be the first to admit, the MAC isn't my best conference so tread lightly or fading might be a good idea. I'm starting to hate this conference as many upper nationally ranked high school teams have the same talent as some of these schools. The offenses are way better than the defenses and solid tackling is rarely found.
I watched Akron play last week and they looked solid on offense. They scored 48 points and won SU as a dog againt Ohio. This same Ohio squad held Temple to 7 points the previous week. McRae had one 54 yard TD run, but otherwise had just 55 yards on his other 20 carries. Miami, Ohio barely squeaked past Buffalo in their last home game. The Red Hawks have ONLY ONE WIN BY MORE THAN 7 POINTS THIS SEASON! I know this is Senior night for Miami and they should be pumped playing on National TV, but they typically play to their competition or get crushed when they step up in class (see 47-10 loss to Cincy & 42-0 loss to Colorado)! Miami, Ohio is battling some injury problems as well while Akron is healthy. Bostic and Mann, a pair of LB's, are listed as Questionable and Akron should be able to run the ball IMO. They had 177 yards rushing and averaged 5.1 YPC last week. I see a typical MAC game where taking over a TD is a solid investment.
