Need some scoreless innings for awhile in both games... 4 scored in Det, 5 in Balt...

Atlanta at CINCY

Glavine has been pitching really well recently winning his last last five and has a stellar 1.59 ERA in his last 3. DESSENS has not been pitching that well, going 0-3 with a 7.00 ERA, but he gets NO support. With an overall ERA of 4.70, his games are 14-4 UNDER~~ and 8-1 UNDER at home

Amazing... so the obvious play is on the UNDER, as the ATL bats have been pretty quiet, and if Glavine is in form, there may not be 6 runs scored in this one. I'm seriously thinking of playing ATL also, as CINCY is terrible at home, ATL is 8-2 in last 10 road starts, CINC is 7-13 vs LH starters, and ATL is 19-10 overall in Game one of a series. ATL FINALLY moved into a tie for first place, and with the PHILLIES playing MONT, they have to beat up on the REDS. Glavine is a clutch guy and will probably try and match MADDUX's shutout from last nite. For now... just the UNDER til I check the rest of the card.

UNDER 9 -120 ** get it now, it'll drop to 8.5!

Phila at MONTREAL

The Phillies arrive in MONTREAL after having played back to back extra inning LOSSES to the YANKEES, and will be tired. We all know of the horror stories that customs have caused visiting teams. This looks like a trap to me though... 1st place team vs Last place team with #1 Starter on the mound, and they're a DOG??? HUH??

I know PHILLY bats have been silent and MONT is hitting over .316 in their last 10, but still it's tempting. PHIL is 16-3 games started by Daal this year, 9-1 on the road. Both pitchers enjoy great support as DAAL has gotten 27 runs to work with in his last 5 going 4-1, while Vasquez has been given 28 in going 4-1. As HAPPY CAPPER noted, both BP's are spent, neither starter has been effective against the opposing team, and combined these two are 21-12 OVER. I'm passing again on the side, but will agree w/HC and GO OVER BABY!

OVER 8.5 -115

Cubs at PITTSBURGH

First off, you got two COLD hitting teams. CHI hits only .245 on road VS RH, and PITT is hitting only .220 in last 10. Cubs broke through yesterday for 7 after having scored 1 or 2 in past four. PIRATES have not scored more than 4 in past 8 games. Both pitchers have ERA's under 4, and neither gets any support! CUBS averaging 3.2 rpg for WOOD last five starts, and PITT only 2.8 rpg for RITCHIE!

This LOOKS like a 3-2 game to me. Think I'll wait and see who the UMP is. Line is down to 8 some places, will probably go UNDER 8.5 though. PASS for now

Florida at NY METS

You got two hot teams coming together as FLA is 6-1 in past seven, while the METS have won 5 of 6. FLA with offense, and METS with pitching. On the road however, FLA is only 2-9 in their last 11, and the METS 5-1 in their homestand. Both pitchers struggle in this postition, as SMITH is 1-3 with 6.52 ERA on road, and APPIER is 2-5 with 4.11 ERA at home. Smith's starts have gone OVER 8 of last 10, 10 of 13 Overall, and 6-1 on the Road. APPIER has pitched well lately having gone UNDER 4 of last 5 with only one bad start, but at home he's gone OVER 6-3.

With METS bats melting in hot July heat, can't recommend the OVER yet, but with an over HP UMP, this game is a go!! As in OVER!
Pass for now...

St. Louis at HOUSTON

This game is a no brainer for me! OSWALT has been phenomenal this year winning all 7 of his starts, even going 4-0 at home with a 1.62 ERA at ENRON.
eek.gif
Matthews has been tough on the road though, going 2-3 with a 2.54 ERA, BUT HOUSTON kills LH pitching! They are batting .325 overall at home vs LH starters, and are hitting .400 vs LH in their past 10 games. Although STL has won 4 straight, those were at home, and they've gone 4-14 on the road in past 18. HOUSTON has not played a 1 run game in any of their past 10, win or lose, so I'm taking the HOT STROS to put up some numbers on another sacrificial LEFTY in ENRON!

Boston at TORONTO

BOSTON comes to Toronto after slugging it out with MONTREAL winning 2 of 3, and won't have to deal with Customs at least. TORONTO meanwhile was losing three straight to the METS and now come home where they have a worse record than on the Road. BOSTON is 28-19 on the road while TOR is 22-27 at home. So far this year, the HOME team is only 3-11 in the first 14 games, BOS is 8-0 in Cone's last 8 starts, 12-5 in their last 17 road games, and take on TORONTO who is scoreless in their last 23 innings. Cone has gotten some arm strength back and is throwing the ball well again (much to my surprise!) and it's hard to not back him here against the JAYS!

BOSTON -105

Yanks at DETROIT - Game 2

SANTOS hasn't been too bad at home this year going 1-1 with 3.19 ERA in two outings, while LILLY is 4-3 with 4.67 ERA on the road. YANKS used all their regulars except Posada in game one, after they all played the full 12 innings last nite. They also used Stanton, Witasik, Choate, Rivera last nite and came back with Mendoza for 2 1/3 and RIVERA again today. TIGERS used only Nitkowski in game one, and only Patterson for 2/3 and ANDERSON for 1 last nite, so their BP is in much better shape, which should factor in. BOTH pitchers have averaged only about 5 - 5.5 innings per start in last five, so the TIGERS should be a live dog in GAME TWO. The TIGERS have also hit lefties well, .287 Overall and .320 in their last 10. TIGERS have also gone 7-3 vs YANKS at home the past two seasons. IT's PAYBACK TIME!

About the only game I don't like... PASS

Cleveland at CHI WS

This should be a great game with TWO good young lefties going at it. BUERLE was impressive in beating WOOD in last outing and hasn't given up more than 3 in any of his last five starts. SABATHIA has been off and on, but when he's on, he's very good. CLE tends to score alot for him which explains his 8-3 mark and the 8-3 OVER/UN record he has on the road. HOWEVER, BUERLE has gone 6-3 at home and UNDER has gone 7-2 in those nine games. I'd lean to the SOX and UNDER here, but there's better games on the board I feel.

PASS

Seattle at KANSAS CITY

MARINERS have won last six meetings, their BP has not given up a run since the ALL STAR BREAK, they are 17-5 in GAME 1 after a win, while KC is 3-15 in GAME 1 after a loss, 7-24 in GAME 1's overall, 2-8 in their last ten games overall. SEA is playing great baseball period. MOYERS has struggled lately though going 1-4 in last five, mainly due to lack of run support as the UNDER has gone 8-2 in his last 10 starts. DURBIN threw 8 scoreless innings in his last start, only to be OUTPITCHED by 1 hit RITCHIE. I'd love to play the MARINERS here, and may, but I think the value is in the UNDER. The line has moved up to 10, and I think that's too much, even for SEATTLE. KC has only batted .175 vs LH in their last 10, and SEA hasn't been tearing it up either as UNDER has hit 7 of last 8 SEA games.

UNDER 10 -120

Looks like 6-3-1 on the nite, PLUS A BIG RAINOUT on my ATLANTA UNDER... and AZ/SD OVER cancel. sheesh. Still, can't complain about +3.35 UNITS when I started out 0-2 and down 2.20!
eek.gif
Guess it pays to stick to it huh??
redface.gif

Anywho, gotta vent a little here since I played an 8 teamer tonite for kicks since I had the big nite last nite, and didn't LOSE A GAME!!!!! ONLY prob was, I had BALT in game 2 on it, ATL UNDER, and SD OVER all on that same parlay, and won the other five...
rolleyes.gif
It went from paying $3500 or something down to like $700!! I would have rather had the ODDS on having 3 games out of 8 cancelled or rained out!!! PROBABLY would have paid alot more!!! ESPECIALLY when you factor in the odds of having TWO GAMES cancelled, but NOT due to rain on the same parlay????
biggrin.gif
Dang... what's the odds on that, like 1,000,000,000 to 1??? HOW many games in the past two years have been cancelled due to something OTHER than rain??? NOW, factor in someone picking those same two games in one parlay??? SHEESH, makes my head spin and my eyes water at the same time.... See y'all THURSDAY!

Thanks TORONTO... after looking over most of the posts, I think I'm the ONLY one who played SEATTLE UNDER... not sure, but I love it when I pick a game like that and it takes extra innings just to score!!
biggrin.gif
Don't happen often, but it's nice when it does. Don't know how much I'll get done before a.m. starts though, being on P.S.T.
