Staying in the Big East with today?s plays:
533 WVa/534 Cuse Under 145 for 4 units ? both teams can put up points, but defense comes out in this one to bring the total under this #. Even if AO plays, he won?t be near 100%, meaning Cuse will have to work the ball around more on offense without a big inside presence. That helps West Virginia as they guard the perimeter well.
567 Notre Dame -2.5 for 4 units ? Must win is an understatement for the Irish. Mentioned in murphman?s thread that this is definitely an emotional type play, as the #?s don?t support Notre Dame at all due to their slide. The look ahead to the away game at UCLA on Saturday doesn?t come into play in my mind either. This team knows if they want to avoid being the big dog in the NIT, they need to get some conference wins down the stretch. It starts tonight for them and a veteran team with an experienced coach will right the ship on the road and show they aren?t the team of these two that needs to be in the bottom half of the conference.
561 Nova -1.5 for 5 units ? Providence is definitely a pretender in the conference. The only impressive win they have is against Syracuse. While all of Nova?s losses (3 in conference, 1 out) are understandable considering the teams they were going against. Nova is pretty hot right now and playing some outstanding defense. They are a veteran squad that knows how to take care of business on the road against a lesser squad. The Friars have been good at home, but I just don?t see them pulling off the upset, so Nova laying a small number is a great play in my mind.
