St. Louis at Milwaukee

Most sports books are listing Matt Morris (0-1, 3.04 ERA) and the Cardinals as hefty $2.10 favorites, with the total at 8 1/2 'under' (minus $1.15). Wayne Franklin (1-1, 5.54 ERA) will toe the rubber for the Brewers.

--The Brewers (5-9) won a 6-1 decision from the Cards (7-6) on Tuesday night, as Royce Clayton and Richie Sexton each belted a home run for Milwaukee at home. It was the first win of the season over St. Louis in five meetings for Ned Yost's club.

--Morris was given a no-decisions in an 11-9 St. Louis win over the Brewers on Opening Day. The Brewers reached the right hander for six runs in seven innings.

--Franklin notched a pair of no-decision in two starting assignments versus the Cards in 2002. Although Milwaukee lost both games, gamblers should take note of seven scoreless innings from Franklin in his last meeting on Sept. 29.

Atlanta at Montreal

--Atlanta (6-8) ended Montreal's five-game winning streak Tuesday night by collecting a 2-1 win in 10 innings. The Braves' road record improved to 3-4, as they handed the Expost their first loss in San Juan.

--Most sports books are listing Frank Robinson's club as a $1.35 favorite, with the total at 9 1/2 'under' (minus $1.25).

--Atlanta left hander Horacio Ramirez will be making his second road start. It was rough sledding in his first road appearance, as he was shelled for seven runs by the Marlins in only five innings. Ramirez faced the Expos on April 3, suffering the 3-0 loss despite pitching well (7 IP, 2 ER).

--Tomo Ohka (1-1, 2.13 ERA) was untouchable in his last outing, a 10-0 win over the Mets. The right hander allowed only one hit in eight innings of scoreless work.

--Montreal (9-5) has seen the 'under' post a 5-0-2 record in its last seven games.

--Bobby Cox's team trails the Expos by three games in the NL East standings. Montreal is tied for first with the Phillies.

Toronto at New York

--David Wells (2-0, 0.53) and the Yankees are $2.30 favorites over the Blue Jays, while the total rests at nine 'under' (minus $1.15).

--Wells has tuned out his controversial book and subsequent fine in his first two starts. The southpaw has been nothing short of sensational, allowing only one earned run in 17 innings of work. The Blue Jays did reach Wells for 10 earned runs in 12 innings last season.

--Cory Lidle (1-2, 5.12) will take the hill for the Blue Jays. He suffered a 10-1 setback against the Yankees in Toronto last week, allowing five earned runs in six innings. However, in his last outing in the Bronx with Oakland last year, Lidle worked eight scoreless innings of an 8-0 victory.

--The 'over' has posted an 8-4-1 mark in Yankee games, while it is 10-4 for Toronto.
