i definitely see where youre coming from with riverside; however, im gonna pass that one . lavin-coached ucla teams had annual clunkers vs in-state weaklings at pauley. will be interesting to see if howland gets bruins to take care of business against an inferior in-state foe. although obviously not an in-state team, bruins effort vs vermont leads me to believe perhaps little has changed. a pass for me, but youre right- dog looks tempting there.

If UCLA wins by 50 I will still be well ahead over the years on this type of play. WIn or lose it is the "right" play. Kind of like BG in the MAC game - they could play it 100 times and Miami could cover the first 99 and I will take BG in game 100 and gladly pay if I lose.

btw- on an unrelated note:

i hate to say it (as the program is not one of your favorites) but the boys from the queen city are loaded this year. huggins will have to do a lot to **** up that team. theyre loaded, and when james white becomes eligible mid-december, look out. of course march might be another story but ostensibly- thats a damn good team

agree 100% on the "principle". its all about hitting more than you lose in this kind of spot. very much agree. gl

I am just stunned that they are waiting for a player to become eligible. It is amazing what players have to go through to become majors in "undeclared" or "general studies" and also manage to get enough credit to be eligible yet never graduate. I have to admit, Huggins' has it to a science. I will say this, only a game against Roy Williamds in the title game will allow Huggy bear to ever win the big win. Just ask Boeheim.

white's eligibility is transfer-related (not academic-related)

why on earth you would question the integrity of huggins program and their academic track record is beyond me. :nono:
when guys like tarkanian and (recently) quinn snyder continually try to bend the rules to achieve success, its refreshing to see a guy like huggins who demands academic success, even if it compromises wins on the court.

you are dead correct about roy williams though. hes going to build a good program at carolina, but seriously- that was his best shot to win a title. a loaded kansas team vs a good, but hardly great syracuse team. as youve alluded to in the past, that games speaks volumes about his inability to win the big one

i think i like the charlotte play too, how is charlotte doing in the rebound category? bama got evened out against a smallish la tech team 38-38. also charlotees shooting will strech tides defense out. thats how i see i at least

like ucsb as well, but gonna pass. been on the bad end of some tough breaks (3 of L4 plays have lost by 1/2 pt, 1 pt, and 2 pts, uughh)

do like the play though. gl with it. assuming that is a campus game for gauchos, and if so- thats a tough place for opponents to win
