well, as i continue to learn from my mistakes (high favs...BAD...!!!and don't bet on L.A!!!), I feel that my groove is coming back...
games that i like tonite:
1) BOSTON/TB : poor Albie lopez..he's gotten hammered in his last few on the road.
His road record is 1-6 ERA 6.75 but his nite record is 3-5 ERA 4.48. His last road starts have been LOST 11-0, 13-1, 15-2, so it begs to reason that he should come up with a solid outing tonite.
With Nomo, if you look very closely at his home starts, his last 5 home starts have been very close L (4-3), W (5-4) , W (4-3),
W (4-0), W (5-4).
Here's another scary stat: BOSTON has won ALL 11 games this year against TB. TB smelled victory but lost it yesterday. I have a feeling they still have their confidence (when they got that 1 run in the eighth, but the TB bullpen promptly gave up 2 in the bottom ...) and I feel that TB will put in that extra effort not to be swept by their division rival.
taking TB +200
2) MILW/PITTS : this game is interesting as it has a bit of a sub-plot to it.
see this: last nite, PITTSBURGH manager Lloyd McClendon was ejected in the seventh in memorable fashion after becoming angry when Jason Kendall was called out at first on a close play. The first-year manager ran onto the field, argued briefly, threw his cap toward second base, then yanked the first base bag out of the ground in protest and carried it into the dugout.
HE STOLE THE FIRST BAG...???ooohhhh no no no..You don't do that to show up the umps...I have a feeling the umps will try to "tip" the odds in Milwaukee's favour tonite as pay-back for that incident.
Milwaukee will also play not to get swept as they have the always reliable Jimmy (underwear on his head) Haynes to pitch them to victory. Conversely, Jason Schmidt is not having a great year, as he has been hammered in 3 of his last 4 home starts...his home ERA is a healthy 7.00.
taking MILWAUKEE (-125)
