well, as i continue to learn from my mistakes (high favs...BAD...!!!and don't bet on L.A!!!), I feel that my groove is coming back...

games that i like tonite:

1) BOSTON/TB : poor Albie lopez..he's gotten hammered in his last few on the road.
His road record is 1-6 ERA 6.75 but his nite record is 3-5 ERA 4.48. His last road starts have been LOST 11-0, 13-1, 15-2, so it begs to reason that he should come up with a solid outing tonite.
With Nomo, if you look very closely at his home starts, his last 5 home starts have been very close L (4-3), W (5-4) , W (4-3),
W (4-0), W (5-4).
Here's another scary stat: BOSTON has won ALL 11 games this year against TB. TB smelled victory but lost it yesterday. I have a feeling they still have their confidence (when they got that 1 run in the eighth, but the TB bullpen promptly gave up 2 in the bottom ...) and I feel that TB will put in that extra effort not to be swept by their division rival.

taking TB +200

2) MILW/PITTS : this game is interesting as it has a bit of a sub-plot to it.

see this: last nite, PITTSBURGH manager Lloyd McClendon was ejected in the seventh in memorable fashion after becoming angry when Jason Kendall was called out at first on a close play. The first-year manager ran onto the field, argued briefly, threw his cap toward second base, then yanked the first base bag out of the ground in protest and carried it into the dugout.

HE STOLE THE FIRST BAG...???ooohhhh no no no..You don't do that to show up the umps...I have a feeling the umps will try to "tip" the odds in Milwaukee's favour tonite as pay-back for that incident.

Milwaukee will also play not to get swept as they have the always reliable Jimmy (underwear on his head) Haynes to pitch them to victory. Conversely, Jason Schmidt is not having a great year, as he has been hammered in 3 of his last 4 home starts...his home ERA is a healthy 7.00.

taking MILWAUKEE (-125)

more later.

GAME 3: CUBBIES / METS
going with season history here and going with the under 7.5 (-130)
Cubbies wanna sweep, and the mets need this game to keep their ever fading confidence...
Think this'll be another close game as both teams bats are skunking it up.

TV - I thought you were taking a vacation???

I like your reasoning in the MIL game, but I am thinking the opposite - the umps are going to make sure Pittsburgh gets the close calls, because they ran out of extra bases, and cant afford another one being stolen...

GAME 4: MY DOG OF THE DAY.
My dog of the day pick is my most accurate dog that has the "best" chance of winning tonite.

SAN DIEGO +120
who's been the hotter team of late...?
I think San Diego..i guess we can throw their lousy west division record out the window. Woody Williams can pitch with the best of them and besides, he's already won at COORS this year. Bohanon hasn't pitched bad of late, but if San Diego can beat Hampton in COORS, then they can beat anybody there.

TAKE TWO ?

yes, i am taking a vacation, these are games that I WOULD put money down on if I was betting.

REMINDER TO EVERYONE: I am not putting money on these picks...I am just posting games that i like and trying to get my legs back in capping baseball. I'll be getting back to betting next week, but it'll be short lived as I 'll be going to CUBA around the first week of July...

GAME 5 :

taking ARIZONA -1.5 (-110)

can't risk the high chalk for Shilling at
-200, so we'll take the runline instead.
Shilling's been very decent lately, while Elarton has been bombed in his last two road starts..
Arizona is trying not to get swept at home, so expect a better effort from them tonite.

GAME 6: my pick "to get me into the green"

TAKING CINCI +135 over ST.LOO
AND THE OVER 10 (-115)

Hermanson's ERA is a mighty 6.57 at home.
L.DAVIS has two ND's in his first two starts, so he gives CINCI a chance to win in their games..but his ERA is pretty high...giving up 7 runs in 7 innings...he's been pretty lucky lately.

after watching these two bullpens closely over the last week, they are truly pathetic.
Both teams used a total of 10 relievers last nite alone, therefore liking the OVER tonite.
I think with Griffey in the lineup and getting the kinks out..CINCI can get atleast 5 off Hermanson...and ST.LOO can get 4 off Davis and then the bullpens will give up another 5.

Hopefully in cinci's favour.

good luck to all tonite.

now let's look at what others have posted...
