LN 4-4, +292.5
Season 84-84, +715.5
2 tough 1-run loses in the late games, but both had legitimate shots at winning the game, just the way it goes sometimes. I'll take a winning nite anyday, though.
Day game..........
Tigers-105x2 (Sparks/George)
Under 9.5x1
Sparks has been a nice surprise for the Tigers, and their best starter by far this year, with a sparkling ERA of 2.30. In his 4 starts, he has given up 1, 3, 1, 2 ERs including 2 games vs the offensive powerhouse ChiSox. Sparks has had success vs KC bats, as only Ibanez, and Beltran have a career BA over .300. Detroit is 5-0 in Sparks's last 5 starts vs KC. George is making his 2nd start of the year after a strong performance vs Bos (5.1IP, 5H, 2ER, 3K, 2BB) with only 85 pitches thrown. He has a good 90mph fastball with good offspeed pitches to throw batters off balance, and is a potential staff ace of the future. Meanwhile, KC has really cooled off, going 2-8 after a 4-4 start, batting only .218 vs RHP at home this year. They've scored 16 runs in the last 6 games, including 2 shutouts. The Tiger bats have actually done well vs LHP this year, batting .288., and have gone 4-4 last 8 after the 0-11 start. Plenty of motivation for the Tigers today as a victory in this rubber game will give them the 1st road series win of the year, and 2nd of last 4 series.
BTW, Cederstrom is behind the plate today, 3-0 on Overs (last year was 20-15), thus only 1unit on the Under, but I still think this one has all the reasons for a yawner if you like seeing runs.
GOOD LUCK today!!!
