So who can affrod this stuff--how far does an ounce get you!!

If its good weed and you aren't getting everyone and their brother high with your stash, an ounce will last even the biggest of pot heads quite a while.
My brother says an ounce of high quality weed will last him a couple of months and he is a daily smoker...
Have a buddy in Colorado Springs that hasn't smoked in 30 years and he is thinking of getting some now that its legal...:weed:

Yeah, I would say for me to get the equivalent "effect" of say drinking a 6-pack of Budweiser, per day, I would go through about a quarter-ounce per month. So an ounce, at that rate, would last me 4 months. Therefore an ounce of marijuana would be the same as about 720 beers.

Obviously that is really rough estimate since alcohol and weed don't effect you the exact same way, and tolerance levels vary for everyone.

$100 an ounce would be so cheap it would be laughable. $500 per ounce is closer to what I pay now, to have it delivered to my home by a bike messenger, though still a bit high. :0008

When I was in high school it was $15 an ounce and that's an eyeball ounce that was more like 1.5 ounce. $500 an ounce? Jesus!

Are you sure it wasn't $15 for an eighth? That would make more sense considering inflation and all that. A full ounce is a lot, like a full sandwich ziploc bag.

Was searching for what an ounce looked like, and this was one of the first images I found. :00hour:00hour

Dude. I know exactly what it was. I bought 1/4 pounds for $40, sold 3 at $15 each and kept one. Did that all thru 11th and 12th grades. It wasn't near the quality of today's weed. Everybody always had their own ounce they carried with them at all times. Everybody smoked the stuff back then, 1972 and 1973, even the teachers. You could freely smoke the stuff at concerts with no hassles at all. If cops ever caught you with it they would just confiscate it and send you on your way, the dirty bastids. Ask The Boys he knows.

And, yes, it nearly filled a regular sandwich baggie. 4 fingers ounces we called them. Acapulco Gold and Primo. :0008

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
yep, weed so easy and so tolerated on West Coast growing up in early 70s, most the older hippies I knew (and the activist NORML crowd) figured what happening now in Colorado was just around the corner back then.

US Congress reduced penalties in 1970...My home state of Oregon was the first to decriminalize cannabis, 1973. Then Colorado, Alaska, California, Ohio - even Mississippi by 1978. The weed crowd figured full legalization by 1979 at the latest.

But backlash, then Reagan arrived...

Makes sense actually. The potency is higher now so you need to smoke less to achieve the same results I guess. But still $15 for an ounce! :scared

You're a bit older than me-- by the time I was dealing weed I was paying 60, sometimes 75 bucks a quarter pound and selling it for 20-30 an ounce. By the time I was in college and my brother was selling, the price had climbed to 250 a quarter pound.
I remember a few bags I bought that were measured using 1,2,3 or 4 fingers.
Read the other day that the avg THC content of weed in the 70s-80s was 15-20%. Today it's 70%!
High times, indeed.
Got caught a few times smoking a bowl or a joint at a concert-- cop took my stash and pipe with a smile cause he just scored some free weed.
Today you'd be arrested and if you're lucky you'd only face a heavy fine.
Legalize it completely already, America.
