Tenn (-7.5) over UCLA
Looks like even though Bell should be 100% Aundre Dean will start and the freshman might struggle in this game with no help at QB. Olsen is out and 2 of the 3 other back-ups on this team at QB will be sidelined this season. Kevin Craft will get the call at QB and the JC transfer will more than likely have his hands full with the speed of Tenn defense. PLUS the o-line has one returning starter (Kia), he broke his hand in camp and I am not sure he will be able to protect as well as he should. All the injuries will make it very tough for the bruins to move the ball. The secondary of Tenn is where the playmakers live (losing Vinson hurts but they will be able to adjust) so they have all the freedom to play man coverage and be very aggressive with the LB in blitz packages. Especsially with returning starters at DT and potential all SEC player Ayers at DE. The Vols on offense have a lot of returning talent at line. four of five return, which means the player to make the most impact tonight should be Foster. Foster should be able to dash OUTSIDE considering UCLA has good interior players and moved their best outside LB in middle backer spot. With the problems on offense the vols should be able to generate some solid feild position and make plays keeping drives alive to endzone. The defense for UCLA will battle but I just do not think they can stop Foster from averaging 4/5 yards per carry and that means Crompton will have all the time in the world off play action. The weakness of UCLA should be coverage in the secondary and without UCLA playing LBs in coverage the Vol wideouts should make plays. The vols have the eddge in my opinion aqnd even though UCLA has good coaches they just do not have enough talent to keep this close. The SEC speed is good enough to shut them down. Crompton and Fulmer are the question marks and they should have no problems with a game plan which will be run heavy.
How bad is L'ville? Might not be a bad idea for them to look at other QBs. Cantwell had no touch, throwing every pass as hard as he can and every completed pass was caught off shoe tops. He is not the guy that played during Brohms injury. He played himself and lost.
