Ball St (-6) over Miami OH
Miami has several players back in the mix after taking a year off to work on academics, and most of the starters returning on both sides of the ball, this could easily the MAC?s biggest turnaround team if it?s more physical up front. BUT does the starting experience for the O-line mean that much considering they struggled to open holes and protect the QB. Mike Kokal is a good passer who might be special one he gets more than two seconds to throw the ball; a luxury he never had last year. The defense should have enough talent to generate pressure, but that question is unknown. Being this is the first game there are going to be many questions but looking at where each team struggles and the strengths Ball has an advantage, Ball St has its offense in place, is well past the suspensions and problems of a few years ago, and should be in the hunt for the MAC West title and the program?s first winning season since 1996. It'll be too tempting to throw, throw, and throw some more with all the weapons in the passing game. Lewis is a small, quick back who won't be a workhorse, but might be tough to stop when he gets a few holes to run throw. He has to provide some semblance of balance to the offense. The passing game and quick hits to the RB will be enough to keep the redhawks off the ball. Nate Davis is coming into his second year and should be able to lead his team to good things this year. This is a typical MAC team with enough players on defense but will look to out score the teams they play. Miami OH was a power in the MAC but Ball st has started to climb the ladder. They have talent on the offensive side and they had a good recuiting class to help out the defense. Now they line up and look to build on a pass year of improvements. Last year this game was a win for Ball st at Miami OH. Hoke is a good coach with a young BUT an experienced team, he should have the cards going in the right direction for the home opener. Looking at the passing attack to set up the running plays, the deep pass will hold Miami off the line and the Ball O-line should be able to get Davis some time. Don't forget Davis can make plays happen with his feet and he will in the first home game. Both defense will give up big plays but IMO Miami has more work to reach the play of Ball st this season.

GL to all this season!

Yes I did and he is doing well. I thought that he would cut down on my ability to cap but good planning on mine and the miss's part to have him in the off season hahahaha......

ND/GT
TONS of questions on the Irish, they have the ability but do they have the chops against a very good GT defense. I am shy of ND till I find out who they will have under center. The Irish need help at WR, O-line and QB. Thats a ton, but they have the players to turn some heads. Weis said he will never say "rebuilding year" but it might be a reloading year. GT has a good RB, O-line and talent at WR PLUS the QB last season behind Reggie Ball stepped in against WVU and showed the skill they needed in the past few years. Ball graduating actually helps but losing Johnson hurts. Still if I had to play it I would say GT is the way to go. I might play it but doubtful because ND leaves a lot of unanswered questions IMO.

GL this season

Oregon (-14.5) over Houston
The ducks at home with a good team returning against houston. Kevin Kolb was a 4 year starter and without him controling the offense I am not sure what to expect from the cougar offense. Mean while the Ducks bring back Dixon. Dixon has, by far, the greater upside of the two and is the better fit for the offense, but if his decision-making doesn?t improve, the Ducks can forget about a rapid revival in 2007. New offensive co Chip Kelly should open up the Ducks already spread offense. Kelly comes in from NH where they played wide open and made huge imporovements over the past years. This wide open offense, no huddle and 4 WR leaves open lanes for Stewart to have a big year. HOW can the ducks beat houston by 2 TDs and hook..... The Ducks gave the ball away 34 times in 2006, stop that and it will be a far better ducks output in 07. The o-line in Houston gave up a lot of pressure on Kolb, the cougars have a very complex offense and new QB joseoh/Pena will struggle is rushed. This Houston team can run the ball but the ducks should come out with an aggressive game plan on defense. If they send the house trying to stop the rush they should also get involved hurring the pass. Then when the ducks have the ball they need to take advantage deep in the passing game. The strength of Houston is at LB but the speed of Oregon at WR is too much for them. As long as the recievers worked on cacthing the ball to avoid the drops and dixon doesn't force the Ducks should command the ball on both sides.

LSU (-18) over Miss St
Time to reload at LSU but they have enough talent and speed to do so and still make waves this season. LSU has done it with speed, speed, athleticism, and more speed, with backups that have more raw talent than the starters for about 100 other teams. This year?s version is no exception, and with a schedule that?s far more manageable than last year?s. Last season LSU beat Miss st 48-17, I think this years defense could hold the buldogs to even less points. (after all MSU averaging around 280 yards and 16 points per game over the last two seasons) Flynn should turn to something special under Crowton who developed players like Kellen Clemens at Oregon. Not only will the QB make steps under the new coach but he should have a lot of time considering the O-line is very talented. The backfield is loaded with options led by star newcomer Keiland Williams working behind a great line with enough returning experience to dominate. The receiving corps won't be as productive without Dwayne Bowe and Craig Davis, but Early Doucet and Brandon LeFall will be a great 1-2 combination. The Bulldogs displayed an improved but inconsistent offense, thanks to the emergence of Michael Henig and the passing game, and a defense that did the best it could when the offense bogged down. MSU loses some solid players on defense including its emotion and team leader. The offense is just not strong enough to carry this team. All in all the MSU team is getting better but they have young players and not enough solid play makers to replace and contribute. LSU should be able to shut MSU down and the make plays on offense. This is a lot of chalk but Miles is a coach that will not hold back and the Tigers will have something to prove because many people thought they lost too much talent. The remaining talent should be enough in this game.

Org St (-6.5) over Utah
This one was tough, and I have been going back and forth on a lot of key points. In the end, even though Johnson is back Utah does not have the overall team speed and power the beavers do. Canifeld is a good QB and should be able to move the ball in the air while the big rush of OSU gets it done on the ground. Yes the beavers have holes but so do the Utes. Still that being said the beavers are a solid home team. They have the crowd and the better talent and when the push comes to shove have the advantage of the teams. I worry about Utah and its offense but they struggled on defense and the OSU offense should take advantage. The beavers have returning players in the secondary but lost the main player. Still the returning players, offense, home field and ability to make big plays should be enough. 6.5 is a lot of chalk and it would not surprise me is the Utes win outright but I like the beavers at home with more talent/

Small play
Tulsa (-3) over La Mon
Worry because this is a great spot for Mon but Smith and the golden hurrican offense is just a better team. Not too much of a right up because what is there to say? The hurricanes lose a great coach but he built a good team. La-Mon returns a nice group but they are not top talent. this should be a close game, it is away against a deep team but Tulsa has an advantage of talent. Wonder if new coach will change things up.... from what I hear he is building off what Krab built.
