NFL prop shop: McNabb vs. Romo for East title

NFL prop shop: McNabb vs. Romo for East title

NFL prop shop: McNabb vs. Romo for East title

Who?s in and who?s out? That?s the question that you probably want answered before laying down your hard-earned cash this Sunday.

I?ll focus on four games that matter and players that will most assuredly take the field for four quarters.

Let?s roll into the playoffs on a high note and finally grab that elusive 4-0 sweep, shall we?

Here are the four best prop bets on the board this week.

Most passing yards

Donovan McNabb (Philadelphia Eagles) vs. Tony Romo (Dallas Cowboys)

Tony Romo is playing some of the best football of his entire career right now, but he?s done so against some struggling defenses.

This week he?s up against a tough Eagles secondary and a pass rush that will apply constant pressure. Romo was sacked four times in his first matchup with the Eagles this season.

Like Romo, Donovan McNabb is also playing at a high level right now. Last week he completed only 20 passes but still threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns.

I know that the Cowboys front seven has been on fire, but I think the Eagles O-line can keep McNabb upright long enough to outduel Romo in this pivotal NFC East matchup.

Take: McNabb

Most receiving yards

Steve Smith (New York Giants) vs. Sidney Rice (Minnesota Vikings)

Sidney Rice is one of the most dynamic young wide receivers in the game today, yet he?s still not receiving much attention from oddsmakers when it comes to prop bets.

We?re able to take Rice at a value price matched up against Steve Smith this Sunday.

Smith has been New York?s most consistent receiver this season, but is no longer Eli Manning?s favorite target.

Mario Manningham and Hakeem Nicks have become more involved in the Giants passing game and I expect them to get the lion?s share of receptions in the season finale.

This is a big game for the Vikings after losing in Chicago on Monday. Sidney Rice had the game-tying touchdown in the final minute of that game and has reached 1,200 yards receiving this season. He?s averaging 5.2 catches per game.

Take: Rice

Most rushing yards

Rashard Mendenhall (Pittsburgh Steelers) vs. Ricky Williams (Miami Dolphins)

This is my favorite prop bet on the board this week.

I don?t see the Steelers putting too much on Rashard Mendenhall on the road in what amounts to a do-or-die situation.

Mendenhall has been turnover-prone during his short career, and you can bet that the Dolphins defense will be in a foul mood after last week?s performance.

The Dolphins were forced to move away from the run after falling behind early last week. With their playoff hopes all but erased, watch for them to hand the ball to Ricky Williams and let the rest take care of itself.

Williams had his worst rushing game of the season last week, but should bounce back against a Steelers defense that has allowed 4.7 yards per carry over its last three contests.

Take: Williams

Most sacks

Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Jets

The Jets may be the hungrier team with a ?win and they?re in? scenario in front of them, but I believe the value lies with the visiting Bengals in terms of this prop.

Cincinnati doesn?t allow many sacks. Carson Palmer has been sacked just four times over the last three games.

There?s a chance that Palmer won?t play the entire game, but I?m still confident making this bet with J.T. O?Sullivan on the field.

The Jets offensive line has held up fairly well this season but they?ll face a stiff challenge against a Bengals front seven that has recorded 34 sacks this year. Don?t be surprised if Mark Sanchez gets happy feet in the most pressure-packed game of his NFL career.

Take: Cincinnati
