BYU (-9) over Wash
Washington defense yielded 496 yards and tackled poorly versus Oregon. That was to a team replacing a lot of talent. The question in this game is injuries for BYU. QB Hall and RB Unga are banged up but they should still play. This offense should have no problem moving the ball on a poor Wash defense, the scary thing is can BYU stop Washington. After all they did give up 362 yards and 17 points to N.Iowa. IMO BYU is just too effective for washington. The BYU defense has to get better and I actually think this will be a pretty close game but I just don't think washington has the weapons other than locker to stay with-in the number. BYU is a good gritty team and will not be affraid of going into washington.
Org st (+15) over PSU
All-America DE Maurice Evans, DT Abe Koroma are out and that will be a little hard to replace and I think there might be a few too many distractions for some players in happy valley. I also think the lions might be a little overrated after they outright laid the wood last week. PSU gave up about 200 yards in the air to costal carolina. I am a little worried about poor decisions Moevao made but they have the speed at wr to make a few big plays and stay in this game. Another question is how will Org st rebound from being ripped apart by the stanford running game. Org st needed some extra time practicing wrapping up and hitting the gaps with bad intentions at linebacker. That is the weakness of this team, but it shouldn't be and thats where the week two improvement should be seen. I mean yes Penn St did hammer coastal carolina but that team is fighting themselves. They have a green defense that lost two leaders and that is where the beavers HAVE to take advantage. The need to use speed and misdirection to get the bigger stronger PSU defenders going one way. I believe the beavers have the speed advantage on offense Quiz Rodgers needs to have a big game, after all the true freshman is a blazer and they need to find a way to get him the ball in open space. PSU has a ton of advantages but I will take the speed and the points.
Okie St (-16) over Houston
Houston showed they have ability on offense when they scored 55 and put up over 600 yards last week. Can the cowboy defense show up and stop this spread attack? The cowboys did a very good job in the secondary against washington st and wash st has better talent at WR than houston. The key will be okie st getting pressure on Houstons QB Keenum. He played well aginst the cupcake last week but can he go into hostile arena and show the same composure and ability to make the right reads. I expect he cannot and when the cougars make mistakes the cowboys counter. Okie st has one of the nations best offensive lines and they found a runner in Kendall Hunter. Add that line and running game Robinson should have the ability to throw some play action down field. Okie has weapons at WR but the TE is the best NFL propect. Pettigrew is a play maker and should have to much size and speed for the Houston linebackers to cover. Looking at Houston they react way too strongly to the rush, that will be where Robinson can beat them over the top and Robinson can make plays with his feet. This will be a offensive explosion but the cowboys are the better team and houston just is not strong enough to stay with them. Plus I like the home field advantage to give the cowboys a lot of help considering Houston calls a lot of plays from the formations on the field, communication might be harder this week and wwith the lack of experience Okie st can be in the position to create turnovers.
Cheers
