CFB FBS 1-A: 9-8 (+1.6 u)

CFB FCS I-AA: 7-1 (+17.6 u)
-------------

Week Dos.....

Thurs Sept 7

HSF Degen: Kennedy-Catholic +10' Juanita (58')
*Thurs Night High School action back to the only state named after a President.... KC Lancers have been a consistent Seamount League Winner going back several years... They were 7-3 in 2016 winning league but stumbling in the playoffs... In 2015, the team notched a 7-1 record with the lone loss coming to State Powerhouse Bellevue 49-15 in playoffs (*Remember Bellevue stopped DeLaSalle from winning its 156 consecutive game)(that game was kinda the spark plug for all these state Goliath to start scheduling teams from different states for bragging rights and prestige)... Sorry, back to where I was... Lancers opened last week with a big win against Seattle Prep 30-20....Lancers are ranked 105 in the state, while Juanita is 100....The Lancers stepped up last year to play in the 4A division and found they could compete.... The QB is very young as a Soph, but has a gunslinger pedigree, as his Father is former UW Star Damon Huard... Also returning LB/OT 6'0" 240 lb Sr Bowen McConville, who garnered First team All League awards (he is strong and fast; placed 2nd in the state in wrestling ly) and has several Div 1 offers....

Juanita got off to a slow start last week losing to Lakes 24-6....in 2015 Rebels finished 4-6, and was 9-3 in 2014.....These two haven't scheduled each other in the past so not much of a head to head record for seasons past..... The teams biggest loss from last year was their RB S Ahmed 5'11" who was a punishing runner and only played 6 games due to a broken hand but still rushed for 1,300 yards w/13 TDs.... He also won US Army All State honors, the Blue Chip athlete signed with UW and saw playing time last weekend when the Huskies played Rutgers as a true Frosh....... The Rebels returned 8 offensive starters and 6 on defense.... HC Lele Te'o says his team possesses high flying capability and the plan was to score a ton of points through the air.... In 2016, the team averaged 25.8 ppg and gave up 25.1...the Oline is expected to be a strong one with several returnees and returns QB and Top WR.... Most snaps were taken by JD Worcester (Sr 6'4" 185) was All League Honorable Mention but has decided to play WR/DB and is expected to go Div 1.....Sr John Nascimento is 6'2" 300 lb Olineman as is All League Jr S?bastien Garza.... Sr Gio Caggliano-Whilmot 5'10" 185 will lead the Defense from the Free Safety position....

I'm not sure what exactly happened to the greatest show on earth last week as Juanita was shut out 24-0 until they finally got on the scoreboard with less than 5 minutes remaining to Lakes..... I do think Jr QB Jake Hohu is a work in progress and he did drive the Rebels down to the 10 yard line a couple of times however, they didn't take advantage and Lakes shut them down each time.....

I thought this might be a good play for the Over as this game has the potential to be a barn burner... But I can't get that lousy 6 points Rebels put up out of my head... Upon further reflection, I think 8 points was too many for a team that hasn't proved they can get it done... The line moved to 10' and I pounced as this one should stay fairly close and I wouldn't be surprised if Juanita starts the season 0-2.......Play K-C +10' over Rebels for 2 units....
WINNA Final: K-C 40 Juanita 34
Back with my College plays and more Degenerate picks

What you looking at in the FCS?

I found a few gems this week... Looking real hard at Colgate... That defense is for real and Richmond is good but Colgate could be for real.
Davidson +35; Really hard to back Davidson but the offense can score and WCU is coming back from Hawaii in a game that they really had a chance to win.

Weather has canceled a few games.

South Carolina State game canceled.
Northern Colorado canceled

there are more

Thurs evening..

I realize Tom & Co are the featured attraction this evening.... But played a couple of shekels on:

Houston Baptist/ Texas Southern Under 43...2 units (-120) WIN: HoustonBBaptist 24 Texas Southern 17 *Perhaps someone can enlighten me how a FCS team is favored over a SWAC team (middle of the road)?? I played the Under here as both teams have fairly young and inexperienced offenses that made a ton of mental errors lw, but both Defenses are the strong suits so I'll play the Under and try not to figure things out that are above my paygrade...

Couple of more HSF plays for Friday night
*Looks like the Img game was postponed due to the Hurricane... Crazy weather these days, prayers are with people in Florida... Stay Safe!

Both games in HSF are 7 pm... Both feature Power programs from Florida, Nevada and California.... Should be interesting

Bishop Gorman - 19' Miami Central (68)

Gaels licking their wounds after last week's loss to the current #1 team in the Nation, Mater Dei.... I'm sure it was a tough week of practice as it will be the first time since 2013 that Gorman will play after a loss...Not exactly sure how this might affect players confidence and focus, but Coach Sanchez should have his team prepared to meet another out of state power, Miami-Central from Miami Dade County..... Perhaps BG plays angry and brings a full can of whoop ass for this match in the desert.... Perhaps Not. *Please forgive me for not going over BG stats and players (feel free to look at my write ups the past two weeks for this program, ie: Dematha and Mater Dei) Certainly no shame losing to the Monarchs... They are huge, fast, and extremely talented.... Gorman still keeps its ranking in the Top 10 Nationally, however, another loss and this stock will plummet... Definitely different factors at work this week....

Enter Miami Central Rockets.... Team is another Florida power that has enough talent up there with anyone in the country... From 2010-2015, the Rockets reached the 6 consecutive Class 6-A title games and won 4 straight rings (2012-2015)...then came 2016, where the team fell from its perch. Sportswriters called it the end of a dynasty, as the team dropped 3 games in 8 matches.... HC Roland Smith had to answer some tough questions and everybody was questioning his leadership.... Yet for some reason Rockets scheduled a brutal preseason that included Gorman, which makes little sense unless you know something.... Rockets have started fast out of the gate... Defeating Chaminade-Madonna 48-24, and stealing a W from Booker T Washington (Blue Blood of Florida's programs that gave Aquinas a loss last year effectively canceling its National Championship ideas)..Central has also scheduled IMG Academy in a couple of weeks so they are making noise that they want to sit at the big boys table.... They are currently sitting on the fringe of the Top 25 and a good showing will boost perception... Of course these Florida programs always bring the weight of the state to represent...

Miami - Central has a stable of quality RBs in the backfield... Leading the way is Sr James "Jimmy" Cook (5' 11" 185 lbs) who is a freak athlete, is the #35 overall recruit in Class of 2018, and is younger Bro to Dalvin Cook, a 2nd Rd draft pick to my team Minnesota Vikings and played at Florida St.... His elite speed makes him dangerous to go the distance each time he touches the ball. Cook had 12 tds last year, and averages just under 10 yards per carry (curiously, he was a verbal commit to his brothers school FSU, however he took the verbal back last week). Joining him in the backfield is Jr RB Lexington Joseph (5'10" 170 lbs) who is versatile and hits the hole hard (he had 110 yard's and a td against Madonna lw)....returning is Jr RB Willie Davis, described as a work horse type and a punishing runner between the tackles but can scoot once he hits the crease... Perhaps the biggest new contribution and icing on the cake is the arrival of Frosh Amari Daniels considered the top running back in the Class of '21 (hope I'm still kicking) ...QB Maurice Underwood (6' 3", 175 lbs) should have the open course to starter, however, their are 2 other QBs Srs Seth McGill and Tijuane Morter could see time in the Wildcat formation as they did in 2016.... The Defense should be stout and that's thankfully due to what is being billed as "transfer season"... Former Booker T Washington DE and Louisville commit, Robert Hicks (6'0" 240 lbs) and former Pembroke Pines Flanagans, DBs Hunter Goetze (6'2" 175 lb) and Auther Bathwaite are two lockdown Corners.... DE Dwayne Boyles (6'3 225 lbs) is heading to South Florida.... Another CB, Chandler Jones (5'10" 175 lbs) and play making Safety, Chris Metayer wraps up very deep Defense......... The only real question mark is the O Line (especially after Central has bragged for years about having perhaps the best OLines in Prep Florida Football....

Central is ranked #63 in America High School Football Top 100.....they crushed Chaminade-Madonna 48-24 utilizing 5 rotating RBs that accounted for 295 yards 2/6 Tds on the ground.... What's scary is Frosh RB A Daniels had 102 of those yards with a TD.... Cook only had 39 yards but scored a TD..... It's obvious what Central wants to do.... Control clock while eating time...... On the other hand, Gorman is a very prolific offense....and has some home cooking on top.... It always worries me when I see these High School athletes travel cross country, especially to a mecca like Los Vegas and not get caught up in the lights and action...... Both teams have very good Defense and I'm sure that Gorman will take this but 19 points is way to many, however I decided I like the Under 68 even better for 2 units... WINNA Final: BG 20 Miami County 24I may play a couple on Central, but have to give it some more thought.. Gl

St John Bosco - 15' West Hills Chaminade (57)
*Again, if you need information on Bosco, I highly recommend reading my write up when they played Aquinas at the start of the year..... Bosco, of course, is the defending CIF Open Div 1 State Champs after defeat of Mater Dei in the Championship....... There is a very good chance that the two CA Powers will battle again for state... Suffice to say Bosco is loaded with a heavy peppering of Div 1 athletes all over the roster..... Since 2013, Bosco has lost to only 2 teams in CA..... Last week, Braves shook out their aggression on another CA school 63-0 (it was 56-0 at half).... This team could probably beat some of the Juco squads in CA..... They have 6 players with Div 1 scholarships in the secondary....

Chaminade is no slouch, and is currently ranked 69th in the Nation, however, they are on the outskirts of the Top 25 and have the talent to get there... In CA, they are ranked 5th while Bosco is 2nd.... This is their first road trip this season, but it's only a hop, skip and jump to Bosco stadium.... Chaminade stepped up last week and played Arizona power Mountain Pointe winning 39-25......In that game, Sr RB Andrew Vanburen found the end zone 4 times.... In Week 1, they battled Oaks Christian winning 47-10....So far this year, the Eagles have scored 86 points in 2 games, while only allowing 35......on the other side Bosco has scored 66 points (but all but 63 came last week)..... They have allowed 9 points.....

The Eagles also have their fair share of Div 1 talent.... RB A Vanburen (6' 215 lb) probably heading to a Pac 12 school.... QB Ryan Steven's (6'4" 170 lbs) also has several offers.. He has passed for 241 yards thus far.... This team has one of the best Offensive Lines in the Country which will be a huge test against a very good Bosco front 7......

Play: I dumped 3 units on the Over 57........ Loss.
.. Came up a little short
Just think these two may light up the scoreboard, and I expect Re-al Mitchell to have a huge day.... Don't forget if Bosco has a chance it will run up the score to stay in the National Championship conversation....
Gluck!
*Back with College picks on Friday!

A couple of additions to Friday Night Lights:

Played 2 units (-120) on Chaminade +20' over Bosco Win
Final: Bosco 31 Chaminade 17

*Will not allow my love affair with Braves cloud my judgment for this game... Bottom line is that 20 points is too many points as my Southern CA connection pointed out that Eagles will be effective with their ground game as the Offensive Line is the real deal.... Don't forget that Bosco opened - 15 point fav..

Played 3 Units on the Over FIU/Alcorn St 58.
..LOSS .neither team is fond of playing defense.... I hesitate because I'm not sure exactly how these Florida schools are going to be effected by Irma.... Even though game is in Alabama, who knows for sure where their focus will be..

Some additional plays:

Southern Miss - 26 over Southern A&M...... 8 units
*Largest bet to date.... Im convinced Howard sits for this match.... Coach would rather have him for League than lose him for the season.... Word is the MRI report is a slight strain but negative ACL damage..... A&M has made it known that they are only playing this game for the $$ (don't blame them)....Now if we can just get the Golden Eagles to take their Ritalin and stop being bi-polar. I think they should win comfortably with a 30+ cushion.... Defense can tee off on a True Frosh Glendon "Bubba" McDaniel.

Weber St /Cal OVER 66......5 units

South Dakota /Bowling Green Over 65'....5 units

Nice

Nice

Pretty good day. I was able to play along against Southern. He is pretty much the team.

There were some injuries today

Terrance Grady Broke his Collarbone EWU WR

Lehigh has some new inuries

Chase Edmonds for Fordham... Not sure if he was benched or hurt double check.

great call on Catawba. I actually bought the moneyline at +900. VMI starting QB was knocked out last game and their backup started this game.
