8-5 ytd

Made a few plays early as I think these lines change.

Arkansas +3

I really like this Arkansas team. I think Mallet is the best QB in the country. They haven't faced much in competition so far, but it's nice to have 2 tune up games before going into Georgias house to play. South Carolina was able to do fairly well on offense vrs Georgia, and Arkansas brings a much more potent attack. I really dont think Arkansas has showed too much in their 2 tune up games either. I think we could see the offense explode on Saturday. The D has played well for the competition its faced, and if they can tame the Georgia offense, I think Arkansas has a GREAT chance to win this game straight up.

Purdue -16.5

3rd game of the season and I expect Purdue to start clicking. Marve and the passing game should be playing better, and a VERY weak Ball State team should give them that opportunity to build some confidence. Ball State lost to Liberty this past week and was beat through the air to the tune of 276 yards. So far in 2 games, Ball State is 1-1. The problem is, they've played 2 FCS schools. Now they jump into the ring vrs. a hungry Purdue team who boasts a potent passing game and should open that up this weekend. Letting Western Illinois pile up some yards is a little concerning, but I expect them to tighten up on D and get the offense rolling this week. Purdue likes to keep a pretty quick tempo so I will also be looking at Purdues team total very hard. They should be able to easily run 70+ plays in this game.

Nebraska -4

Nebraska faces their 1st test this week. Washington is an improving team, but they are still shaky in some areas. I think Nebraska will be able to pound the ball and keep the chains moving against the Huskies defense. They Huskers will also face their first test on defense. Huskies have some play makers in Locker and Polk. Locker is a highly touted QB but has had some issues with his accuracy in the past. I think sometimes he tries to be a passer too much and that hurts him because he is a very good runner. Theres no surprise on what Nebraska will want to do on offense, and thats run the ball. I dont think the Huskies will be able to stop it and eventually the defense will get worn down and I see Nebraska pulling away in the 2nd half.

Kentucky -24

Kentucky has a potent attack with maybe the best running back in the SEC not named Ingram. Akron has shown very little, and lost to Gardner Webb over the weekend. While they were able to put up some good rushing yards, their game vrs Syracuse was a very poor showing. The only were able to come up with 166 yards of offense vrs Syracuse at home. Now they hit the road and go to SEC country to face the Cats. While I think Kentucky is a bit vulnerable on defense, I think they should be able to bust the game open with the superior talent and legit stars on offense.

NC State +1.5/ML

Seems to me that the home teams early in the season play very well on Thursday night games. Going back to 2005, on Weeks 2, 3, and 4...the home teams have gone 17-6 I believe on Thursday night games. Along with this little trend, I also like the fact that NC State has already faced a tough UCF team on the road and passed that test. I think they have confidence coming off that win and it will carry over to this game. Cincy was able to get the offense rolling, but it came against Indiana State. Not really a worthy foe. Now they go back to facing a real defense. In the 1st week Cincy was destroyed by the Fresno State D, which was a terrible unit a season ago. The NC State defensive unit looks stout thus far, only allowing opponents into their red zone twice. NC State has some very nice weapons through the air, with a pair of talented receivers and a very good TE. Wilson has also played well thus far, tossing 5 TDs without an interception.

Western Michigan over 28

Utah -21

Utah will have to put a beat down on New Mexico, regardless of if they want to or not. They will be compared to how Oregon and Texas Tech played against New Mexico, so they will need a strong showing if they have high hopes for the end of the season. They can take New Mexico to the woodshed and I think they do tonight. Would not be surprised at all by a 30+ point win by the Utes.
