YTD: 14-9-2

Well, the dogs sure have dominated to begin this week, spending only about three minutes of game clock not covering the spread in those mid week games.

Will see if it keeps up today. Here's what I like early:

Ohio +11.5 over Northwestern. This line seems way too high, perhaps the result of having an 0-3 team, OU, playing a 3-0 team, Northwestern. OU acquitted themselves very well in back to back near miss upsets over Ohio State and MAC favorite CMU. In both games, I really liked the OU attack and they seem to have that running game going hitting for over 145 yards in each. Nortwestern, meanwhile, has allowed an averageof 150 yards on the ground in their two games against fellow FBS schools. Even lowly Syracuse churned out 122. OU managed 4.7 per carry against Ohio State, so I think they can move on this Big 10 team. Their running game is unique and hard to stop. Northwestern will have their hands full on day. The Wildcats are 3-9 ATS as a home favorite, including 1-5 when laying double digit chalk.

Troy +21 over Ohio State. The referendum judging the Jim Tressel era continues today. Ok, so I kid. There's no referendum needed to decide whether or not he is a great coach with great accomplishments. But, aren't we a little surprised with the vitriiol coming out of Crimson and Silver Nation this week. The most common refrain seemed to be, get rid of all the assistants and if that doesn't work than we'll talk about the Senator. In the blogosphere, I even came across a few thoughts that they hoped Lane Kiffin and Mark D'Antonio would somehow get fired so the Bucks could hire them as coordinators. I dont know about any of that. What I do know is where are about to see this former national title contender undergo a makeover this afternoon. We'll see how splitting the snaps between Boekmann and Pryor will go. We might see some pistol formations. And while I think its a great move long term for this team, we might still see a plodding effort today from Ohio State. Pryor will look good today on several occassions, but he'll aslo make some mistakes today. OSU is still without their stud tailback. And, of course a hangover effect from last week will dog them today as well. OSU is only 4-6 ATS at home against non BCS teams. Troy has mastered the art of losing, but covering when they square off against the Big Boys. They're 14-8 ATS as a true road dog against teams from the BCS leagues with covers in Florida State, LSU, Ga Tech, South Carolina, Arkansas and Oklahoma State in recent seasons. I think they'll grab another one in Columbus today.

Arkansas +9 over Alabama. I think the Hogs are a bit better than their come from behind wins against lesser teams showed, and I also feel the Tide isn't as good (yet, at least) as their #9 rankings shows. These teams have a history of playing close games. Besides, close games are the stamp of SEC football. I'd have to double check my numbers, but I have dogs in SEC league games at 57-37-3 over the last two years. Thought we might have one of those DD dogs that have been cashing lately, but thats not the case this morning. Still, I think I might end up on all four dogs in SEC conference games today, so we'll get it started in Fayetteville this afternoon.

All three of these plays are just for 1 unit apiece.

Good Luck!! :weed:

OK, so this is not going well so far.....OU is leaving a lot of points on the field and they flat out gave NW a TD before half.....I have no comment on the Hogs effort thus far vs Bama.

At least Casey Dick has the play where he throws to a wide open Bama safety down pat!

Anyway, here are mid afternoon plays.

UNC ML -155 over VT. I know a lot of folks here are on VT. But, I've been fading VT so far this season and picked up a couple of units doing so. This offense still has yet to develop playmakers and they're still in work in progress on defense replacing all those multi year starters. I think UNC's offense can do some damage today, whereas I still dont trust the Hokie offense to contribute. The Heels have five scoring drives in two games this year of less than two minutes. If they can showcase that big play potential today, they'll tack on scores that VT wont be able to keep up with. I faded VT and won in their games vs ECU and GT. UNC was my darkhorse team this year, had them vs Rutgers. While the cat may be out of the bag as far as UNC's darkhorse candidacy, I'm still willing to risk a unit and half of on the Heels winning. Hey, I factored them a winner here back in the summer, and we've seen nothing in the season's first three weeks to make me think otherwise.

ND +8.5 over MSU. Again, not a popular pick on the board it seems. But, can we trust Sparty in a big spot? I say no. MSU is just 12-22 ATS as a home favorite and historically they're not a great play as a favorite when playing a team that comes in playing well. They're jsut 2-15 as a home favorite playing a team off a win. Of course, the streak everyone knows about is the fact that the road team has won this game outright seven years in a row. ND is 16-9 as a true road dog this decade, but more than that trend, I think their overall improved play is what catches my eye here. Their OL could not protect last year, but I read an interesting article over the summer about that. It pinned more than 1/3 of those sacks on Claussen and his "ability" to scramble into the rush and even when he did get away, still run out of bounds before getting back to the original LOS. Now, the Irish have given up 0 sacks in two games and I've seen a much more composed Claussen. He seems to have got the message that an INC and live for another play, is better than a negative play. I think he stays clean and upright enough to make enough deep plays to the likes of Tate, Kumara, and Floyd that this rivalry game stays close until the closing minutes.

Tenn +7.5 over Florida. I am taking all the underdogs today in SEC conference games. I just think thats the way to go, given how the league has been the last couple of seasons. I like the home puppy here, getting a TD, with revenge, seeking overall redeption for their program. Plus, Florida just sounds way too overconfident for my liking. Plus, Urban Meyer is just 4-11 ATS as a road favorite as the head coach of Florida. Hopefully, Crompton does not have "throw to the wide open safety" play that Arkansas keeps running.

Good Luck!!:weed:

Added a quick 2nd H play:

Utah -6.5 over AF......I still feel like the Utes will come back and win this one.

I'll have my night games posted within the next hour.

ND could definitely cover this one if not win SU. Starting the 4th, Mich St looking vulnerable on both sides of the ball late.

Thanks guys....IO, ND just got back in the game and let Sparty march right down the field. Way to play soft when the game is yours to be had. In other news.....Cubbies......hope its not a full moon on the north side tonight!! :mj06:

On to this evening:

Wake +4.5 over FSU. Is Wake on the short end of the talent and athletic stick tonight? You bet. But, that does not make them the worse football team. Nope, with Grobe, Wake is much better coached and schooled that FSU. Do we even know anything about FSU yet? They've won 2 games, both against FCS schools. Wake looks the same. Does not matter who they play, it will be close and their execution usually gets them into the winner's circle in the end. I just dont have a lot of faith in FSU right now, especially the QB position. They have not been as good as Wake the last two seasons and I dont think we can say they're as good as them now. Besides, Grobe is 18-9-1 as a road dog during his tenure at Wake. I'll stay on this bandwagon because, surprisingly, it has more football playmakers than the Seminoles.

Vandy +7 over Ole Miss.....staying on the SEC dogs despite the horrific results of the day so far by doing so.

Auburn +3, -125 over LSU.....see above.....maybe they win 8-7?

Indiana ML -117 over Ball State. Complete homer pick for my alma mater....once a year, you should always bet on your alma mater.....right!?!?!?! Anyway, tonights a good a time as any before they face the Big 10 clubs that will flat out blow them off the ball. Think they get by the high flying Cardinals with a late field goal.

ASU +7 over UGA.......ASU lost outright last week as a double digit favorite. This week, they're the underdog. Clubs who are dogs after losing outright as a DD fav the week before are 61-35-3 the last decade-plus. So, by that definition, this is a system play.

SJSU +9.5, -130 over Stanford. Way too many quality cappers on this site like Jose this evening. I dont mind being on those boats.....here's hoping my weight wont sink it! :toast:

Good Luck tonight!!!:weed:

ND ran some funky directional kick after their TD and gave MSU the ball in their side.

ND's kicking game :sadwave:
