Thursday Night:
Washington -3
The Skins could very easily be 3-0. In their week 1 loss to Houston, they out gained them 372 to 316. Houston's 2 TD's were on a blocked kick return and a 76 yrd bomb. 2 ill timed turnovers cost the Skins (RG3) Week 2, yes they beat the shitty Jags, but it was total dominance, only allowing 148 yards from scrimmage (Jax got over 300 yards vs Philly and Indy). Week 3 again saw the Skins dominating in total yards (531 to379) in a losing performance while blowing a double digit lead. Again, the Skins allowed a special teams TD and had some real bad luck (missed FG off the upright, 2 overturned replays).
The one aspect has impressed me the most with the Skins is their rushing defense. THAT falls right into a difficult match up for the Giants tonight. Its simple, if the Giants run the ball effectively, they win. If they cannot, they won't. The Skins have allowed 2.8 yards per carry so far and only 64.7 yards per game (3rd best in the NFL). In week 3, the Giants ran 42 times for 193 and won. In weeks 1 and 2, they combined for 49 rushes for 134yards, and lost both games.
The game will come down to:
-Will the Redskins allow special teams and/or big play Touchdowns (allowed 2 special teams TDs and 2 TDs of 50+yrds)
vs
-Will the Giants turn the ball over (minus 6 in their 2 losses and plus 2 in their win).
I will go with the better rushing defense tonight. I think the Skins force Manning to throw more than he wants to, and recent history shows that is not a winning formula for the Giants.
I hate going against the reverse line move and I understand why the sharps like the Giants. However, I truly believe the Skins are the better team at this point in the season.
