VT (-17) over UNC
Beamer is 5-1 against Davis
The tar heels showed they are not where anyone expected them to be at this point in Butch Davis's first season. They lost at home to UVA and just have not shown the ability to play consistant offense or defense. VT will get this UNC team in the friendly confines of Blacksburg. Taylor has a few games under his belt and now is a good test for him in the ACC. The offense for VT has looked better and the defense as always feeds off mistakes and crowd energy. Also the defvense feeds off the offense and vice versa, with Taylor at the helm the defense has something to liven up their steps. Far too much talent on VT's defense for UNC to present a threat. The problem for VT is the o-line but the young line for UNC will not be a problem. Ore should have a good day. Remember last week beamer pulled the starters in the third and should have his team focused and ready. Tune ups for the offense against Ohio and W&M should have Taylor playing with a little confidence and he will lead his guys at home while the defense makes big stops and turns field position.

teams looking ahead to next week?????
Iowa plays PSU
Florida plays LSU
Oklahoma plays Texas
Ohio St plays Purdue
Geogia plays Tenn
Rutgers plays Cincy

thanks guys....
miami (-24) over duke
the u has looked to wright and he has shown the productivity needed to open holes for james. the speed at wr is good enough to stretch the field and as you can seen in the a&m game the te are getting more involved. in comes duke, an acc bottom feeder. can the blue devils keep this close, imo they cannot. miami is playing with a lot of confidence, the believe in their coaches, they are at home and they have the talent edge on offense and defense. is this a hangover from a&m....will the canes come out flat? there is a good chance miami over looks duke and tries to coast through this game. not too much on the door step with unc on the schedule but still a rematch with ex head coach from back in the day is more than what duke brings to the motivation table. so 24, thats a lot of chalk for miami to lay in a game they don't really care about. but....the canes like to showboat and they will have the oppertunity to score and make big plays on offense while the defense will look to make things happen to get a little celebration time of their own. that desire to show up the other team, home field, total edge in the talent department, swagger, and duke being a poor team.....give me reasons to spot the points.

cheers

So Miss (+11) over Boise
Scared with this being the golden eagles 3 straight road game. LB Gerald McRath and DE Robert Henderson are all-star candidates that have helped hold two of three opponents below 100 yards on the ground this season. Southern Miss is physical, quick to the ball, and rarely misses tackles. The man this defense has to stop is Johnson, force Thorp to beat them. The So.Miss pass defense is not the strongest in the nation but they have to be more concerned with generating offense, not stoping Boise. These teams have similar offenses and IMO Boise at home is a tough play but to spot a team 11 after only beating Wyoming by 10 is a lot. So.Miss has a good win aginst ECU, but a big loss to Tenn, but that was in Tenn. I think So. Miss will lose because Boise is the better team but I just don't see Boise being as dominating on offense as years past. They have scored 24 last week and only 10 the week before in the loss to Washington. I think this game will push the limit on the over and be close. Damion Fletcher is the keys to the So.Miss offense, the better they do running the ball the better chances of So. Miss wnning this game. That is going to be tough against a decent Boise defense. When Fletcher records a rushing touchdown, the Golden Eagles are 8-0 over the past two seasons. So Young will have to be stronger than his 50% completion percentage and lead his team on big drives to keep Boises offense off the field. I think the smurf turf gives Boise the edge but So.Miss will not back down and I think the golden eagles will come to play and keep it close.

Small play
Ark St (-5.5) over Memphis
Memphis is bad, they lack offense and defense and the coaching staff just doesn't have the playmakers to get the tigers involved.

haha....wood, thanks for the words....last night hurt. pitt/uva is a pass for me considering pitt lost to a substandard team last week and uva is very hot and cold. normally i would think 7 is too much for uva to spot anyone. if i was gonna play it i think pitt keeps it close to the number running the ball. the problem with pitt is lack of leadership...thier best player is a freshman running back. uva at home could pound them but remember unc kept it within 2 and pitt is a better team...question is can they rebound...answer imo yes...they keep this close by running the ball.

wvu (-7) over so. fla
revenge from an over looked game last year. slayton will look to show last years performance against this team was a fluke. seven is a lot to spot a very fast team in their house but imo so.fla is a sexy pick this year. they beat auburn...yes but the tigers had every change to hammer so. fla and could not get it done on offense. wvu offense will not have the same struggles against this fast defense. you have to think coach rod has been hiding so big play calls and will breack them out tonight. reynaud and jalloh are very good wrs but wvu has not had to use them and they should beat one v one coverage deep all night and we all know white or brown can scramble for big gains or just keeping plays alive. slayton, schmitt, devine, white and sander.....all can make big plays and this years wvu team does not have to worry when spelling slayton...now they get faster with him resting. that is huge for wvu is tough games they can run fast great rb at you all night. the scare here is wvu's defense against grothe and so.fla speed at wr. wvu must get to grothe because is you have been watching them he is banged up and might not finish the game if berry and dingle show up. dykes needs to be huge taking up space to free up ivy mangro and holmes. wicks and andrews are good enough in the secondary to read grothe's stare downs and pick him off. imo even at home so.fla is outmatched. wvu has circled this game and will be up for revenge. when wvu comes to play they have a very explosive team, ask georgia...it is when they just show up they get in trouble. tonight with revenge and the national spotlight wvu amends last seasons loss and looks to showcase....they get better as the game goes along and the can thrrow haymakers when so.fla tired out. i think the deep playaction pass will be open all night as it was when the so.fla defense played auburn. white is head and shoulder above cox and he makes the bulls pay deep for biting on the fake then with them out of the box zone blocking and speed does the rest.

Oregon (-6) over Cal
:scared
The ducks are hot right now averaging 11 points in the first quarter. Call have been toasted in the passing game and don't really show the ability to shut teams down. Oregon is something like 8-1 in the last meeting against Cal at the duck pond. Dixon is playing the best football of his career and is showing all the ability expect of him in the past two seasons. Belotti has all the piece in place to make a BCS un and along come the bears. Cal and Oregon are a lot a like but IMO Oregon is more explosive on offense. With Stewart, Colvin and Dixon they can run or pass. Cal seems to want to establish the run with Fossett and go long. Longshore has not impressed me this season. It took a long punt return for a TD and some Vol misques to do in Tenn when they played Cal. The ducks are a good home team and they are playing in a good system with confidence. Then why so scared you ask... it is a PAC 10 battle, Cal does have good players, the ducks defense isn't exactly VT and I have seen Dixon go from hero to zero before so there is some worries about decision making when he feels his back is against the wall. However, I think he understands the offense more, he knows if a play breaks down not to forc a throw into quad coverage but to get up field and make it a managable conversion attempt. That game management is why I think the ducks have been succesful and will be again at home. The defense for Oregon is playing well enough to get stops and the game plan so far is to get ahead of teams then watch them make mistakes and continue to pour it on. That is how I believe this will go. I think if the ducks do that ghe bears will beat themselves. Limit the mistakes and the swagger and ability of oregon at home should be enough.

Small play
Slayton OVER (122.5) yards for the game

WVU (-5.5) over So.Fla 2nd half

I stated before that WVU is a good second half team.... I thought they would play better then they have tonight. I really hope Brown stays in at QB, White looks timid and scared on every snap.

I have to say that was the WOREST job of coaching I have ever seen....... no hurry up, saving time outs???? WVU played like they had a lead.

I lost a good chunk of change... I will except that but holy $hit watching that uninspired football is pathetic.

I have been punched in the stomach over the past two nights, need some serious help this weekend!

Mich St (+7.5) over Wisky
I like the hook here, I think the home field is enough to get the badgers the win but I like Mich St and a powerful running attack to keep it under the number. Mich St is a tough team, they have talent but youth. I like the mismatch of size Mich st has at TE. He should be able to make plays and keep drives alive. This will be a battle and as Iowa showed the run game can get it done against Wisky. Wisky beat the citadel by 14, Iowa by 4 and UNLV by 7. This should be a close game considering the badgers just have not shown the ability to beat up on teams. Mich st has played a pretty good BG team, beat Pitt and roughed up ND in south bend. Now they go to camp randal and look to shock a top 25 team. I think they will need help to pull off the upset but they should keep it close and look to win. The game plan SIMPLE... slow down Hill and let Javon Ringer and Jehuu Caulcrick run keeping the chains moving and the clock running.

Hawaii (-26) over Idaho
Brennan returns to the site of his first start on Saturday when the No. 19 Warriors play at Idaho, Hawaii's third game on the mainland this month. Idaho's QB is looking to out duel Brennan but his 46% completion percentage and his 6TD/7Ints isn't going to turn any heads. Vandals (1-3) opened the season with a somewhat encouraging 38-10 loss at No. 1 Southern Cal, were blistered by Washington State quarterback Alex Brink for 307 yards and four touchdowns in a 45-28 loss to their neighboring Cougars and now must deal with the Warriors and their 55.8-point average. Too much offense for the warriors, Hawaii should score and score at will. They can not allow Idaho to put points on the board late because the vandles play with pride, as they did last week. They opened last week down 31-7 but made a game of it late. IMO they do not have the offense to stay with hawaii and the warriors should be looking at getting a big number against a team that will fold if pressed and a QB that will be forced into passing situations and not reliable enough to keep things moving.

"I'm..I'm sober as a Bird"

USC (-21) over Washington
Speed.... too much speed for washington, the USC offense has gotten better week in and out and they should continue today. Ohio st does not have the amount of fire power that USC has and they were able to over power the huskies and run over them. I think the USC defense holds and the offense moves over the huskies defense. The key is the Washington QB, but USC has the speed and co Norton will spy him not letting him beat them. The trojans offense should score early and often and make this a shoot out and the USC defense should cause enough problem for Locker to force him into bad decisions.

Ariz St (-14.5) over Stanford
Stanford is bad, they do not have any talent on defense. They have not gotten enough out of the offense to keep teams off the score board. ASU has shown the abilty to score and score at will, if they come to play they should handle Stanford on offense and never look back. Erickson has the guys playing well and if they are focused for this game they have far and away more talent than stanford and it should be seen when ASU's offense runs and passes all day. Keeping the stanford defense on their heels will result in big plays, something I expect from the sun devils. Going to stanford isn't hard and beating them is even easier... just a matter of the devils getting up for a sub par division team.

Bama (+1.5) over FSU
The Tide got the passing game going over the last few weeks, and QB John Parker Wilson has come into his own, but can they control Grant. Yes Bowden went to Bama, Yes the game is in Jax, Yes FSU has a very good defense but remember this FSU team has really only beaten Colorado. I am not sold on the noles offensively and they will struggle against an aggressive defense like Bama as they did in the Clemson game. Saban will have his kids ready off a big loss to Georgia. The tide will be able to run the ball as clemson did if they run straight at them, avoid the overall speed of FSU. Outside of a few late drives, the Bama secondary has been a rock so far, while the run defense hasn't been all that bad, with the stats skewed by playing Arkansas. FSU does not have the talent Arkansas has running the ball and even though McFadden got good numbers he did not beat Bamas defense. Hayes was suspended for this game and he is a big leader on the defnse, that loss will hurt the noles a ton and the main playcaller on defense won't be making adjustments before the snap and I would think some missed assignments follow. Bama has balance on offense, they are not affraid of FSU on defense and they have enough defensive talent to shut down the FSU attack. I took the points but I think Bama wins outright.
